Does anyone still do a spring clean
Just wondering if you do an actual spring clean at this time of year or just do it as the year goes on.

Will Dylon cover a bleach stain?
I've got a cotton mossy green skirt which I accidentally splashed with bleach while doing housework. I put it in the wash straight away, but it has a big gingery mark where the bleach went. If I dye the whole skirt a darker colour do you think it will hide the stain or will that area always be lighter?

Weekly Flylady Thread 30th April 2018
What is FLYLADY? Well, it's our version of the US flylady idea - but we work on the principle that housework is not fun, it's boring, can be time-consuming, is often thankless but, unfortunately, necessary. It's here on Old Style to provide the support we all need and to make the whole task easier and quicker. We also…

Shrunken woollen garments - crafty ideas
A male friend gave me a lot of very nice cashmere and merino jumpers which I have stupidly shrunk. They fit still but are a bit short so don't keep me so snug. I also managed to shrink some nice woollen socks. A while ago I made a hot water bottle cover by deliberately (on this occasion) shrinking a cashmere jumper so it…

Where can I buy dried figs (Lion Brand if poss)?
I used to love the Lion Brand dried figs. Came like a block of compressed fig, and you could just peel a bit off and eat it. I haven't seen them for a while- anyone know a stockist? I'm in the North but I occasionally travel. The partially dried figs don't do it for me. As they are partly moist, they contain preservatives,…

Its curtains!
You appreciate the good quality material, just don't need the curtains! Aside from trying to sell them (unlikely as they are made to measure), what would you do with them, in a decorative / home furnishing sense? My ideas start and end with cushions :o

Slimming World Receipes
Does anyone use Slimming World receipes? Not necessarily to lose weight but just to eat healthy? My friend and my sister in law cook these meals and they look and taste lovely as I have tried some myself but the amount of ingredients you need to buy just puts me off. I really want to up my game when it comes to eating…

Can you cook fresh pasta in the oven?
Can you cook fresh pasta in the oven in a pasta bake without boiling it first? My hob is useless and when I cook dried pasta in the microwave it boils over and makes a mess. Just thinking that fresh pasta might be a better idea.

Leftover Red Wine
Hello all I had some guests staying over at the weekend and I have been left with a fairly expensive bottle of red wine. It’s open with about one glass out of it and I am wondering what to do with the rest of it. I don’t like to drink the stuff, but I have used it in cooking before. Has anyone ever frozen it before or do…

Rats!
Has anyone ever had any success getting rid of rats without using professionals? We had the rat man here and he is charging us £160 for the first three visits and then £50 for each subsequent visit. We opted not to have poison used because we have 2 dogs, our neighbopur has 5 dogs, most rats are poison resistant now, and…
