Old Style Daily Wednesday 25th April

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Morning everyone
hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light, wet underfoot although not raining at the moment, more is forecast today, yesterday it had started raining by lunchtime and continued into the evening.
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly, he's asked for a lift to my work car park this morning, he'll walk to the gym from there.
Dinner last night was pork steaks, mash, carrots, broc, cauli in cheese sauce and gravy, ice cream for dessert. Tonight will be hot quiche, breaded chicken portions, HM potato salad and HM coleslaw, and side salad.
Yesterday work was manic again, as my colleagues that were ill were still off, not sure that they will be back today either, so it could be another hectic day, and I'm working all day. I'm also working Saturday morning.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks and thanks HOLLY. I am now paying the price for all yesterday's heavy lifting and carrying! I am as stiff as a board this morning!
The electrician is due back again to put on the last of the sockets etc in the kitchen and then it will have power! Installer due back to finish the floor and other bits and bobs he couldn't do until the electrician had finished. There is still another job we have beset him though! The washing machine is housed in what was the little pantry with some ancient shelves above. That's where I stored all my reserve grocery stuff (tins, packets, etc) and, gluttons for punishment that we are, I have asked him what he could do to smarten it all up!! I know, I know, I am crackers! He is going to think about it. I am hopeful that could then be used for all the kitchen gadgets and stuff so that it's all in one place, rather than here, there and everywhere, including shelves under the stairs. So, at the moment, it's two steps back again just as we were seeing daylight!
Meanwhile I want to pay a visit to Dunelm. I have seen a microwave, kettle & toaster set on line that I like the look of but I want to see it in real life first. Also, as it's old codgers day at B & Q, I want to look at lighting in there as well. And, as I am in the vicinity, I will pop into Home B's to stock up on all the cleaning stuff I am going to need to get us shipshape again!! OMG you wouldn't believe the muck and dust everywhere!
Freezer rummage next for more mw food for today and then, hopefully, tomorrow normal service might resume!
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) as always for all in need/want of them. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning All
Keep thinking how good it will be when it's done TA! I had a similar thing done in the sort of utility room (used to be the kitchen when the house was built), lots of useful storage and I'm glad it was done.
Hope our bruises are healing LW.
Hope you're ok tru.
It's raining again, these April showers are getting longer! Washing on the pulley, must empty the bins later as it's bin day tomorrow.
Remembered to take stuff to the tip yesterday, it's been in my car for days! Had a haircut after work then visited a poorly work colleague. Didn't get home until 7.30 just in time for DS2 to phone with his plans for coming over next month. My stomach thought my throat was cut!
Anyway, meeting a friend for an early dinner after work today but apart from that not much happening. Hope you have a good day, take care. XX

Good morning folk.
Raining here! Yesterday there were bouts of rain and bright sunshine. My day was busy though fulfilling. Work done, patient taken to docs and great grandmother's watch repaired. Then, in a brief period of sun, I humpfed bags of soil through the house and filled up the large planter and then planted the herbs. What I thought was Rosemary turned out to be Lavender so I need to buy another plant. The Mint was put in the border of the front 'garden' rather than in the planter.
The peanut butter and banana cake was very well received by my colleagues. I think it needs another layer of the buttercream in the middle as it's a 2lb loaf cake. I brought a couple of slices back home with me.
Today I'm having a little lie in, just watching the sky and sea for a wee while. I've got an online meeting early this afternoon and then going down to Glasgow.
There's still some salad stuff to use up and I've got eggs from the farm too. I could be left with an almost empty fridge.
I hope that everyone is doing well or getting better. Happy Wednesday to all..0 -
Morning all and thank you for starting the thread Hollyharvey.
I am working today but a later start as my first appointment is close to home, then going into the office. Tomorrow will probably do paperwork at home.
We had a very rainy day yesterday. This morning the sun is shining but the forecast for later is for yet more rain, April showers with a vengeance!
TA you may feel that you are a glutton for punishment but if you can get all the work done, perhaps it will be over without any need for yet more mess later.
Hope everyone has a good day.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning all
Its been raining and is overcast here with more rain due later I think, last night was so cold that we lit the fire, it was a bit of a change from last week.
Off to work today and we are having a memorial to the client who died, there has been no funeral yet as they are doing a post-mortem, but we are all getting together to remember her, we will all wear lellow flowers as these were her favourites and she could not say yellow ! It will be a very sad day
Quiche for dinner with roasted new potatoes and broccoli and asparagus, fairly nice and easy.
Rubbish and recycling are out this morning and I will put the dw on before work.
I went for a mammogram yesterday and a breast check, all fine which is good news.
Right better get on, have good days all xx0 -
Morning all. It's fine here but I don't know how long it will last, it rained last nigt.
I haven't posted for a few days as we've been away in the caravan, and it was lovely to be away. Apart from this morning I haven't yet caught up with people's postings, I'll do it tonight.
TA, your kitchen seems to be coming on well, I'm sure it will look fabulous when it's all done,
HH, you sound ok - keeping busy and eating well.
I'm meeting a friend this morning - I'd forgotten about it until she texted last night to check that we were still meeting - eek! Then I'll go and pick up my new glasses from the opticians. Other than that it will just be "stuff", bit of washing, tidying, general catching up.
Hope you all have a good day.
Take care folks0 -

Morning all,
I've returned from my trip to Spain, I hope all is well.
We had thunder, lightning and rain for the first few days (when the weather was lovely here in the UK) and eventually got some sun in the final few days. And in typical British fashion, I got burnt.
So back to the grind again. Been up and at the gym this morning and back in work. Still got some catching up to do and then I'll be firing on all cylinders.
Anddddd...more excitingly, I've a date on Saturday! I was introduced to a lovely receptionist at my barbers and we exchanged numbers. We've been texting back and fourth so I decided to take the plunge and ask her out. God I'm nervous already!
RR - Good news re the check. And good on you for going!0 -
Just lost a post because the internet has been playing up here. I got a phone call from Virgin to say it's fixed but it isn't, I'm tethered to DH's mobile.
The sun is shining so I'll attempt to do some weeding today.
Good luck with your date Speky.0
