Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
It rained late yesterday afternoon and persisted until well after dark. Its bright and sunny just now but more rain forecast.
My job this morning is to finish clearing out the drawers from the hall cupboard and put everything back. I could do with cleaning the fridge, but that will have to wait until tomorrow. I guess OH will be in the garden despite me asking him not to I caught him bending right down yesterday...........just let him fall again!!
Did not sleep too well, it was after 4am before I finally got off, 4 hours later I am up, showered and dressed.
OH has requested beefburgers chips and beans for supper, so have just got 2 quarter pounders out of the freezer to defrost.0 -
Hi all,
I hope it's ok if I join in? I posted a little bit a few years back but life got in the way and I had very little of interest to say! But I kept reading along and want to give it another go even though my life still isn't very interesting! My DH and I are in our early thirties and moved house last year from a much smaller flat so we're trying to set up our home while trying to be MSE, so I'm learning all the time.
This is such a lovely thread, I really enjoy reading about all of your days. Also the support you all give each other is wonderful, in particular to Holly in recent times, who I hope has a good day today.
I'd better get on with some work now but looking forward to chatting with you all as I 'get to know you'
Have a good day everyone :j

Good morning everyone and glorious spring day here in the Garden of England, rain not due until around tea time so I shall make the most of the weather today I think My bed has been stripped and changed and the stuff is chugging around in the machine at the moment I have my last shop of the month to do today and s only really odds and ends .
DGS Henry did well in his mock first finance paper for his As's and came home beaming with an A* and I am so pleased for him.His next paper is next Monday.
DGS Jack is cross at the moment as the Natwest are taking their time sending him a new debit card to replace his old one that was cancelled when lost But it means he doesn't get to spend any cash at the moment His boss actually owes him £75 as his rate went up after his 18th birthday so I told him to chase him for the cash,he was paid short in his March wages !!!
Speky good luck with your date you sound a lovely young chap and I'm sure all will be well, just be yourself and maybe you will get to take her to meet your Granny Gran's have a second eye when it comes to lady friends, and if she passes the Grandma test then she will be a good'un:):)
Holly H you sound really positive today well done and haveing a cook up will be nice and creative for you to do today
We came 4th in the quiz last night but it was such good fun we all enjoyed ourselves.
Checked with the pension folk on the phone yesterday and apparently it was a mistake on their part and its a back payment so happy days I am £9.00 odd better off Every little helps:)
Right time to get a wriggle on I feel a need for a cuppa before I nip to the shops to get the odds and ends
Hope everyone has a good day what ever they are doing and TA it will be worth it once done
Can't believe another month has vanished and my Gt.Granddaughter is a month old tomorrow, she will be toddling before I know it at this rate:):)

Morning all
Hugs and spoons to those in need.
Welcome Emma. I'm a 'dipper' too so do feel to join in as and when. They are an [STRIKE]odd[/STRIKE]oops, friendly lot in here.
lovely sunny day now but quite a cold wind. Bruise mare came in last night with an ooh me . She had nearly lost a hind shoe and it as hanging on by a thread so to speak. Cue much huffing and puffing trying to get the blasted thing off before she stood on a nail. I'm sure the superglue these things on secretly when I'm not looking!
Farrier coming later to sort it out ( he was coming Monday anyway)
Mrs M dropping large hints abut going out tonight munching, so that will be another hit on the poor bank balance. Be glad to see May arrive!!
Take care all

Morning everyone,
Bright and sunny here at the moment, we are forecasted rain for later so WM is on with a load to, hopefully, dry on the line.
Little dog looks very smart after her haircut, much darker chocolate than with her shaggy winters coat, lady said she was very good, just a bit of a wriggler!
Today is horse day as farrier is coming to do Lu’s feet, there was an article in our local paper about the sad fact that’s so many horses are being dumped nowadays. Problem is that they can be relatively cheap to buy or even given away in some circumstances but so expensive to keep, people just don’t realiseMy girlies feet cost £50 every six weeks and that’s only with front shoes on.
Other than that, need to go through the house as like to have everything looking clean and tidy before I go away, tea is sausages so easy peasy.
Ooh, enjoy your date Speky
Makes sense to get it all done at once TA
Pleased that the watch was mended Gers
Right, have a good day folks x0 -
Morning all,
welcome back Emma, dip in and out as you wish.:)Anddddd...more excitingly, I've a date on Saturday! I was introduced to a lovely receptionist at my barbers and we exchanged numbers. We've been texting back and fourth so I decided to take the plunge and ask her out. God I'm nervous already!
Speky good luck with the date. I'm sure you wont need it but have it anyway.:rotfl:
Quiet on the home front here, i had it last night instead. Eldest is having problems with his ex. Still, i told him she was bad news but did he listen? No he got her pregnant instead, twice.
I got a bit of a surprise when i opened my front door this morning and found this on the mat.
Would be nice to think....
Onwards and forwards,
have a great day all. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Morning all,
Welcome MSEmma,I hope you enjoy joining in.I certainly don't post everyday and most of my stuff is routine but no-one seems to mind
Speky- ooh hope it goes well on Saturday.
TA- good idea-I wish I'd rearranged our house a bit differently when we did it up as the big gadgets are the bane of my life & to have them in one place would be great.
Lainey I saw a piece on our local news about abandoned horses, apparently the NW is pretty bad for this.2 ponies hooves were so long they couldn't walk and had open sores too poor things .
Our lovely young neighbours are leaving this week, they've bought a house after being fed up with the landlady who seems unwilling to rectify some problems in the house, like a load of damp in the dining room, and black mould in the basement so that the carpet has had to be removed. Not surprising really as there is no ventilation at all down there- DH said at the time it was being refurbed after the floods that they weren't doing it right- quick tart up job so it looked ok when they viewed it.The rent they were paying was top whack too so I can't blame them.
Family jewels, I wear my Grans engagement ring and one of my Mums all the time, and used to wear DMILs engagement ring with my wedding ring but it got too worn & I'm scared of losing the diamond.I inherited a suitcase with a lot of my Grans photos and papers, which like you TA has helped enormously doing my family tree.My Mum also had my Grandpas watch chain made into a necklace, which I have now .
Also a little wooden chest has pride of place in our living room- it has a brass plate on the top with some initials and the date 1876.Gran said she bought it at a house sale and it used to belong to a sea captain. It has 2 opening doors and 6 shallow drawers inside & we use it for storing important papers, she used to use it for her sewing stuff
DGC later, I need to pick DGS up from school.I think tea will be something easy like breaded fish from the freezer.Hope you all have a good day.RR wear your 'lellow' flowers and remember your friend in happier times.xx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Family jewels. I have my Mothers wedding rings and her engagement ring to Dad Mom didnt get engaged when she met my StepFather, they just went and got married.
Grump has a ring that was his Dads. He's had it valued and it will pay for his funeral. He has 2 sons so i cant split it.
Im not much for jewelry and what i did have got stolen years back. Ive got a necklace and one ring and thats it.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Afternoon all, we have sunny intervals and rain showers.
I am very stiff today too after my cleaning session at Dad's, especially my wrists and forearms.
We went to B&q this morning for paint and wallpaper paste. I also bought myself a new bucket as my other ones are buried in one of my sheds, not very OS but it cost less than a pound. ( last of the big spenders me) It's also bright orange so I hope it will be easier to find than the black ones, which seem to hide at the back of the shed :rotfl:. We made a stop at Al*is on the way home for milk, bread, lemonade and ooops, a large bar of chocolate just fell into the trolley
. I have put the shopping away now and had a sandwich for lunch.
So the plan for this afternoon is fill and put the DW on, make up the wallpaper paste and paste the new plaster. As the plaster is new it will apparently suck up the moisture from the paste today, making it easier to paper tomorrow ( according to the plasterer ) You're learning new things every day !
TA are you sure we are not related ? Some days we seem to be writing about the same things :rotfl:
Holly well done on making the beef and chicken dishes. Any room for a little one at your table ?
JackieO well done to your Henry :T
Speky Good luck on your date. Mind you we Mums, Aunts and Grans on here will need a full report back
MSEmma welcome. Looking forward to getting to know you. This is a wonderful supportive thread :A.
Mehefin Are you casting nasturtiums on the good people of this thread ? Odd indeed...... never ! Strange, bizzarre, weird or peculiar maybe :rotfl::rotfl:.
Well I suppose I'd better do something, but I think I'll have another coffee first, just to give me some ooomph !
Hope everyone is having a good day. Hugs all round.
nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0
