Can you cook fresh pasta in the oven in a pasta bake without boiling it first?
My hob is useless and when I cook dried pasta in the microwave it boils over and makes a mess.
Just thinking that fresh pasta might be a better idea.

I've certainly done lasagne that way: you don't even need to soak or wet the dry sheets first.0

Thanks for your reply. I've used lasagne sheets in the oven but other pasta I've always cooked it first.0

I don't think that would be a good idea unless you want crispy noodles.
The reason it works for lasagne etc is that it is swimming in a sauce and has plenty of moisture to keep it soft. Without fluid, it will dry out like a wafer.

I often buy the pasta bake sauces in a jar. You use dried pasta for these which you don't have to cook first.0

If you pour boiling water over the pasta and put the lid on the saucepan you would probably find you don't need to put it in the oven, just leave it standing for 20 minutes.
I'm assuming of course you have got an electric kettle - if you have to boil water in a stove top kettle on a slow hob I can appreciate this wouldn't get you much further forwardIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
Fresh pasta is more expensive. From what I remember of pasta bake sauce in jars, you poured the jar over dry pasta, then filled the jar up with water and topped it up with that, then shoved in the oven. No need to cook the pasta beforehand. They are an EYESORES!!!!0
