Old Style Daily Friday 27th April

Hollyharvey

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning, my hugely informative and fascinating post has just pinged off into the ether so I will not bore you further by drivelling on but will just wish everyone a good day.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0

Morning folks and thanks HOLLY. I managed to sleep marginally longer last night before all the "stuff" started going round in my head. I got to 4.15 as opposed to 2.30 yesterday. It left me exhausted all day.
Busy busy few days ahead and getting everything back in the new cupboards is the first job. Then tackling the muck and dust everywhere. A thorough clean, one room at a time is my plan. I am not looking forward to it. The dust has even got inside the cupboards in the lounge!
At some point I need to try and make sense of the oven manual but someone with a degree in technology might be needed to help. Why is everything so complicated these days! At least I have mastered the hob (I think!) and will be able to go back to my poached egg on toast for brekkie. Oh I have missed them. I tried doing one in the mw t'other day but it didn't seem to taste of anything so didn't bother again.
I am hoping P will be back this morning with the cupboard doors he has ordered for the little pantry. Then I can say the job is finally finished! If not I can live without doors for a few days!
Now need to shift some money around to pay for it all! Then get my MSE head back on and build the savings back up!
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) as always for those in need/want of them. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning folks.
Thanks for the thread Holly. Will your window cleaner not do both outside and inside? I'm not good at housework and I suspect cleaning windows would rank top of the list of least favourite things to do.
TA - it's almost done! I think everything is complicated these days. If you remember I only found out that my hob had a timer last month and I've had it nearly five years!
As for complicated things...my new car hasn't got a manual just an interactive app. :rotfl:I've downloaded it and then ignored it so far. The basics will do for me just now.
My day will be Mum based. We are going to visit her hospital bound neighbour and then DM has a podiatry appointment on the South Side. A great adventure indeed.
I hope everyone is doing well or getting better, especially Camelot. Happy Friday folks.0 -
Morning everyone
hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light, dry underfoot but forecast to start raining any time now, and rain all day - deep joy!
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, I'll wake him shortly.
Dinner last night was escalope of pork, rustic potato and veg, cheesecake for dessert for those that wanted some. Tonight the menfolk will have chicken and bacon kievs, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg, I'll be having mushroom omelette and salad.
I was reasonably productive yesterday - one of those days where I was busy all day, didn't stop very much or for very long but there doesn't seem to be much to show for all the effort and work put in. I had my list on my phone and ticked off the chores as I got them done. Never mind, lots has been done, made some phone calls and that took an age as was put on hold etc. I will continue today, I must get the ironing done, not a huge pile but I need a work blouse for tomorrow.
I will be heading to the SM first thing, DS2 will walk from SM to the gym after helping me with the shopping, I'll come home unpack and do the ironing, once he's home he'll shower and eat then we're going to local town to see if we can get him a bank account set up, as he doesn't have one at the moment, just a building society account.
I'll get done as much as I can but will then have some chill time this afternoon.
Keep safe and well x

GERS there is a clock symbol on my new hob so I presume that means there is a timer? I doubt I will ever need to use it so am ignoring it. As long as I can heat the rings up and turn them up and down that's all I need to know!"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0

Morning All
Shhh, it's not raining!
Yesterday's appointment was one I really don't want to repeat but sadly have to. One tear duct is working fine but she couldn't get the syringe in the other (after much prodding and poking) so will have to go back to get that sorted. I still feel a little shocked by the whole experience!
Gers - So pleased your new car is just what you wanted, happy driving.
TA - Enjoy your lovely new kitchen.
Enjoy your date Speky!
Hope everyone else is well.
I have my cousin and her DH coming for the weekend, they are notoriously slow at driving so it could be midnight before they arrive. We have tickets for a tennis tournament in Glasgow tomorrow, she thought Andy Murray may be playing but apparently he isn't. Not my favourite spectator sport but it's something different.
Have a happy Friday, take care. XX0 -

That at least gives a hint about a function. My hob has an icon with a sort of tick shape which gives no inkling of what it's for.
I've now got George Formby singing 'when I'm cleaning windows' rattling around in my head.:A

Morning all
Dull and overcast here and rain due for most of the day I think, at least that means work will be quiet.
Friday today :jwhich means wine and takeaway tonight, its my favourite night of the week particularly as there is no early morning alarm on a Saturday.
OH and I had planned to go out walking for the day tomorrow, last week we had a walk and right at the end we came across a weir and several waterfalls it was very beautiful and we wanted to go and explore it more but it looks like its going to rain all day, so we might have to postpone.
Camelot OMG !! poor you I can imagine how horrid that was for you xx
Specky I meant to say I am very excited about your date :jI do hope she is nice, please tell us all the gossip afterwards xx
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning, it's bright and sunny here, and that cold wind has gone. Mind I think it's going to rain later.
i didn't have a very good night- back to waking at silly o'clock, though I think that the lighter mornings are part of the problem. Last year I made a blackout panel which we put on a tension rod, I think we'll have to start putting it up every night now.
Sorry to hear your procedure wasn't entirely successful Camelot.
Hope you enjoy your holiday Lainey.
I'm glad your kitchen is almost done TA.
Holly, I hate cleaning windows, but last year a neighbour loaned me her K*rcher window vac, and it made the process so much easier and quicker. After Christmas I had some vouchers and bought one of my own. DD has it at the moment, she likes it.
Pleased your new car is ok Gers.
Today, it's just general stuff. DD's buddleia needs cutting back it's gigantic, so DH and I will do that. Then tonight it's bottle of wine and chat with friends.
Hope everyone has a good day.
Take care folks0 -
Morning all
Its raining here but Dolly has been walked and she hated every minute of it as i dragged her round the park
I am off to South Wales today to pick mum up from her cousins and then tomorrow i will go to the family graves and give them a spruce up .
Camelot sorry that things didn't work out yesterday
TA you will be able to breathe a sigh of relief by this time next week when everything has a home and the dust is gone you will have time then to do an OU in Technology
OK have a great day whatever you are up to x0
