Old Style Daily Thursday 26th April 2018

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning all
Thanks Holly for starting us off this morning.
Mr Fix It has had a disturbed night so consequently I haven't slept at all yet and have been up since 2.30.
It is now starting to get light and Mr Blackbird is in one of our trees, singing his little heart out, welcoming the new day. :j
On my agenda today....
Put a load in the WM and hopefully get it dry on the whirly, as we are supposed to have sun/clouds.
Bring down the caravan cover from the shed and put it on the patio to finish off the drying, ready to fold away. We are hoping to put it back on the 'van on Sat as tomorrow the forecast is for rain again.
Wallpaper the lounge.'Tis only the one wall so shouldn't take too long, I hope.
Lunch, then possibly have a nanna nap.
Cook the tea which will be something and chips, haven't decided yet. It's too early
I may go back to bed when Mr Fix It gets up, otherwise I will be fit for nothing :rotfl:.
TA I shall be send you some calming vibes for today
MrsSD I hope you get some relief for your mouth from the anti-bs.
Hope everyone has a good Thursday. Take care and hugs to all.Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0 -
Morning folks and thanks HOLLY. Another one with a rubbish sleepless night. Lay thinking and worrying about "stuff" as I do. Mr TA far from well and it's difficult pinning the problem down to which illness is causing it.
Anyway on a brighter note the kitchen is all but finished and is looking really nice. The electrician is due this afternoon and then everything should be functioning! After over 12 months without a working dishwasher I am getting excited about using one again! There is still the little pantry bit to sort and I have told him not to do anything fancy just some decent shelving and matching doors to hide all my gizmos and gadgets away! He is coming this morning to do that but says it may be a few days before the doors (made to measure as an odd size) arrive.
Hopefully tomorrow the worst job can start - transferring all the kitchen cupboard stuff back into the kitchen and deciding which cupboards it is all going in! When that job has been done then the worst job of all!! Tackling all the muck and dust throughout the rest of the house and giving everywhere a thorough clean. That will keep me quiet all weekend! I could do with a couple of better nights sleep than last night though in readiness. This morning I feel fit for nowt.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) as always for all who need/want them. Hope your antibiotics have started working Mrs SD. NAN good luck with the wallpapering! Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning everyone
hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.
Now light, dry underfoot and sky is clearing, although rain is forecast yet again.
Dinner last night was hot quiche, breaded chicken portions, HM potato salad and HM coleslaw, side of chips for those that wanted some. Tonight I'm not sure, but will organise later.
Yesterday work was slightly better but not a happy place at the moment, so glad to be on days' off but I'm working Saturday morning, then back on Monday. It'll sort itself out eventually.
I have the normal "to do" list today so will crack on with that, I have so much to do after being away from Thursday last week, so effectively lost my 2 days off - I'll just go with the list and get as much done as possible, and ticking it off.
Keep safe and well x

Hello MSEmma  Coffee? :coffee:
The raised beds look great and food is growing well in them. My tomato and cucumber plants look terrible, they're still small and spindly, although a couple of the cucs already have flowers. I've moved them out of the house and into the greenhouse, I've been told not to do this yet - “noooooo, not yet, the weather is all over the place and THEY WILL DIE!” - firstly, stop being so dramatic and secondly, they're definitely going to die indoors so I've got nothing to lose. I'll leave them in their pots for a few days then plant them in the ground next week.
My beach hut room is a mess, some of the plaster is blown so that'll have to be patched. I'm not redoing the whole room, it doesn't need it and the memory of the mess from rendering and plastering the kitchen over seven years ago is still very clear in my mind! And mr tru took some stuff out of the loft and dumped it in there three weeks ago, he has no intention of sorting it so I've made a start and if I throw away the wrong things – toughI WILL get my craft room, no matter what.
Our morning walks are taking over an hour, I know this is normal for most dog walkers but this is a huge achievement for Scampi. He's off-lead most days, has made friends with a couple more dogs but still turns away and waits behind a tree or bush if he's not sure of somebody. He peeps out til they're a certain distance away then carries on as normal.
Mum is popping round for coffee, she asked to come for a walk with us so she can see how much Scampi's improved. I have no doubt he'll ignore anything I say, just because he has an audience

Good morning folks.
Today's the day I collect my shiny red new car. :j I've got to sit through a two hour online tedious meeting firstwhich I'm not looking forward to. I'm considering it as part of the 'payment' for the car.
When I arrived here yesterday DM was in bed! Sitting up and looking peachy. She had a bad morning, went to bed and just stayed there. I spent a lot of time taking her cups of tea and trays of food. :rotfl:
TA - Woohoo! I'm excited for you. The pleasure will soon kick in.
I hope everyone is doing well or getting better.
Happy Thursday everyone.0 -
Happy New Car Day GERS! I'm another red car fan. All our favourite cars have been red but for some reason we ended up with a black one last time!"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0

Morning All
I think we will need an ark today, the rain is just awful!
Enjoy your new car Gers, at least you will get to check the windscreen wipers!
Good to hear from you tru, well done Scampi. You've worked wonders with your little friend.
Nearly there TA, you'll be finding new homes for your box contents really soon.
I didn't sleep too well as I have to have a procedure on my eyes today, my tear ducts are very narrow and apparently this is what's causing my eyes to water. Not really looking forward to it at all but needs must.
Anyway, hope you all have a happy Thursday, take care. XX0 -
Morning all,
Looks to be a nice day here, although last night turned really cold again.
Off to work for me but to the quieter site so it should be an easier day, the memorial for L went well yesterday but was terribly sad and happy at the same time, we took a walk down the beach and bought an ice cream afterwards as that was one of her favourite things to do.
Something and chips for dinner will go and look in the freezer after this, ice still got some coleslaw left from yesterday (a cabbage goes a loooooooong way)
Gers enjoy your new car :T xx
TA the end is in sight :j
Well done to Scampi, what a good boy you are xx
Camelot, ouch ! hope all goes well xx
Have good days all xxx0 -
Good morning everyone. It's bright and sunny here, but brr, the wind is cold.
Thanks Holly for starting us off.
I've just put some washing in, that will dry if the rain holds off.
Welcome, Moneysaving Emma - you'll find that this is a lovely, supportive thread. (I've made it sound like a nice lacy bra)
TA, whoo hoo, can you see the end in sight now.?
Enjoy your new car Gers, sounds nice.
Speky, good luck on your date, you deserve someone nice.
Tru, I laughed at your description of the mating pigeons - we once saw a pair mating on a telegraph wire over a road, not a busy road but still - talk about living dangerously. The logistics of doing this while standing on a wire.......better not take this any further
Hope you get a nap Nanny.
Yesterday went as planned, today, more washing bit of ironing, and so on. I was going through our wardrobes yesterday, taking out the unused coat hangers, and even bearing in mind some of them will come into use when I iron, we seem to have an awful lot, don't know how. Better get rid of some.
Hope everyone has a good day, Holly, good to know you're eating better, keep it up.
Take care folks0 -
Popped back to say hope you'll be ok Camelot, that procedure sounds nasty0
