Gosh...this online meeting is boring, more boring than a boring thing!
Dumpling - good to see you posting. Good luck with the weigh-in.0 -
Well ive bathed the hounds. Neither of them will come anywhere near me now.:D It was the first bath of the year so the water was particularly grubby. They have found the warmest spot in the house in between the boiler and the radiator. Vacuuming will be done later as they will shed a fair bit as they dry off.
News from Wales... the job Grump has been offered closer to home hasnt come off. They wont pay enough and theres no way he will take a pay cut. Still, despite his moaning, i think Grump is happy enough where he is (for now).
Dumpling a slow worm. I had to google it. I think i'd have been in a mess too. Ive never seen one in real life. I'm in no hurry to see one either. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
My late OH, whom I adored, once thought he was having a bit of a laugh with me and threw one he had dug up from the overgrown back garden at me saying 'catch this ' I didn't, and it wrapped around my neck :eek::eek::eek:
Nearest to a divorce ever in my house I was a very inexperienced 21 year old living in the wilds of rural Essex on Mersea Island, about ten miles from the nearest town of Colchester.
I was a city girl and had never lived in the countryside before, and was convinced it was a snake . We had only been married about two years and its a wonder we stayed married, as to say the least I was not amused :mad::mad: He was laughing hysterically at my distress which really wasn't the best thing to be doing as I was having a major melt down, It seemed as though it was 10 ft long (in my terrified eyes) Poor thing was probably more frightened than I was .
Last year in my garden we had a couple with some tiny babies that my gardener found behind the shed I was happy to let them live there, as it seemed safe enough for the little family, and not in my house which is fine .
I only like things with two legs in my house everything else can stay outside as nature intended them to be0 -
Afternoon everyone
tru - your description of the mating pigeons has made me laugh x
Where I work we have a sloped glass roof over part of the office, and we regularly get pigeons on there, I was dealing with some customers directly under the glass roof where a mating pair of pigeons were making a real racket, only for one to loose it's balance, fall off and roll down the sloping roof squawking and wailing , I'd done really well being all professional and ignoring them until that point - myself, my customers and others that were there all fell about laughing, no shame those birds, they are so noisy!
Keep safe and well x

Tru I did laugh about your pigeons - we get similar here/. I keep telling Walter and his missus to get a room, but they take no notice of me.
Dumpling I'd better not mention that I used to have three pet snakes.....
A wee question, for Meanmarie or anyone else in the Rep of Ireland.... what sort of electric plugs do they have there? Are they the three-pin jobbies like in England, or will I need travel adaptors when we go on holiday (visiting Dublin for a week in May). Thanks in advance. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -

They're the same as ours. My sister lives in Cork and all the stuff she's taken from my house over the years works fine in hers.0 -
Good afternoon everyone,
Only reading your posts is keeping me sane :rotfl:
My DSis is completely ignoring every practical suggestion I make  & ignoring my DH re financial tax matters even though he has 30+ years of experience :mad:
Her next door neighbour has just popped in to say goodbye & to SELL her some fresh eggs :rotfl: so dinner tonight is eggs & chips
I am also feeling a bit sick due to my swollen face although the antibiotics are reducing the swellingAnd maybe some of the sickness is due to nerves rather mammoth amount of decluttering, selling, packing etc that we still have to do _pale_ Also the official paperwork re utilities, insurance etc is causing me sleepless nights

Whinge & rant over because this is not getting it done

Afternoon all. Two for the price of one for me here - TWO electricians have been here all afternoon changing the fuse box, connecting up etc. More banging and drilling going on. The kitchen man left at lunchtime with the shelving done in my little pantry bit and the skirting board on in the kitchen. He will return when the doors he has ordered arrive, hopefully tomorrow, then he will have finished. Meanwhile, once the electricians have finished, I can start filling up my new cupboards! I may leave it till tomorrow as I feel too tired after the rubbish night I had.
We have just had to make a flying visit down to B & Q to change the light fitting I got. Something to do with the earth and I had to get a Class 2 fitting. I was a bit miffed as I loved the fitting I had got and the one I changed it for is pretty boring to say the least! I had the huge choice of 2 Class 2 fittings! The electrician is going to put it up before he goes.
LAINEY have a lovely holiday. I am envious I love Cornwall. CAMELOT I hope all went well with your procedure.
I am hopeful I may be able to actually cook something for tea after 11 days of having no oven!! Great excitement! And no washing up to do afterwards! I may even treat myself to a glass of wine with it to celebrate!
Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Afternoon all,
Cold here today, the odd hailshower but mainly dry.
Am feeling very sorry for myself today......woke up yesterday with a pain in my back which eased a bit as the day went on, took an anti-inflamatory pill last night and slept through, but the b****y thing was back this morning and is getting worse as the day progresses. Its obviously a pulled muscle or similar and will heal in its own time, but I am an horrendous patient and will blame every thing and everyone in sight for all my ills until its gone!
DD3 on dinner duty today.....pork steak with something I gather.
Enjoyed the slow worm stories JackieO and Dumpling...I have never seen one but did have a similar reaction to my first encounter with a gecko many years ago.
Good luck with your new car Gers.......
LameWolf.......confirming what Cranky says about plugs. I hope that you enjoy your visit to Dublin, I would offer to meet you for coffee but I know that you don't do meetings.....offer stands if you change your mind. Can't advise on real ale pubs, I am sure that you have done your research and I am sure that your hotel will have advice on where to eat/drink well, probably not cheaply I am afraid, but you will know that too.
Have a good evening all.

My new car is fab! Thanks for all the good wishes. It's bigger than I remembered from the test drive, a Peugeot 3008, so I'm being wary of things. Getting it into the barn will take some practice as will turning right onto the canal bridge!
Once I brought it back to DM's I took her out in it for a wee shopping jaunt as I wasn't here last weekend. Tomorrow she has podiatry appointment on the South Side, haven't been across there for years.
I'm just about to do a friend a favour and proof read a letter for her and then I'll be ready to do nothing else.0
