I just baked lots of bits of bramleys with some sultanas and cinnamon until it went all soft, to use for my breakfasts with yoghurt. Would this count as apple puree do you think? Am trying to figure out how much would equal one of my fruit portions-and this guide says apple puree is 2tbsps would you call what I made apple…

How much meat do you eat?
Hi, I'm relatively new to the old style boards and still learning. I've signed up to the grocery challenge and looking to find ways of trimming down the costs. So, I was wondering, how much meat do you eat on a weekly basis? I have to admit that we tend to use quite a lot, with most of our meals being meat based. I just…

I made my own Christmas cake, which cost a small fortune, from a recipe out of Prima. It's a really lovely cake, very moist, but I still have half of it left. Is it possible to freeze it? If so, do I need to take the icing etc off first? Thanks.

Cleaning around a hob
The adhesive around the hob sealing it to the worktop is disgusting:eek:. What can I use to clean it, or even better, can I attack it with a stanley knife and get rid of it entirely? It is only the bit between the edge of the hob and the worktop, but as I rent, I don't want to risk anything which could cause issues? The…

Very old slow cooker!
I need a bit of help. I've been looking at the SC recipes and seen about cooking joints and mince in them but I was given a really old Cordon Bleu SC (orange outside with brown crock and low/high setting) and I was given the book to go with it, but all the recipes are stew types with lots of liquid. Can I use this type to…

Making Taramasalata...
Does anyone make their own taramasalata? I have just found a recipe in an old book that uses a can of smoked cod roe....i have looked on line and i can only find a tin of 200g or 600g of 'pressed' soft cod roe. I wondered if this is the same thing? Also if this makes too much i can't see any reason why i can't freeze some…

Wartime Food better for our health?
Don't know if this is the place to post, but I have been watching the programme that was on a while ago with Sue Perkins and Giles Coren showing about what people ate during WW 2. At the end of the programme their fitness was assessed and in just one week their lung capacity and lean mass had increased. Now they may have…
