Morning all,
I have some lamb mince in the fridge, bought it monday and it goes out of date tomorrow (the 5th). I've noticed today though that it's lost it's pink colour and has gone a bit grey looking, is it still safe to eat? Was really looking forward to bolognese tonight!
Thanking you muchly

Smell test, then cook a little bit up & eat it.If it tastes OK,then use it.Most supermarkets add a sort of dye to the meat to make it redder, the meat is also not aged as much as a traditional butcher would do so the is more blood in it.
If it's been stored correctly & smells/tastes OK then it'll be alright.0 -
Thanks Spike! Will have something else on standby to eat, just in case!0

I worked in a butchers when i left school in 1985 , mince goes brown a lot, we were told to re-mince it with some hearts to make it look nice and fresh!0

I would sniff it, I have used greyish meat before because it was still in date and smelled fine. I would only be bothered as to whether it was off or not rather than what it looked like.Credit Card: £796 Left/£900 October 2011 :eek:Store Card: £100 October 2011
