Hiya people and a very happy 2012 to ya'll. I have been to ASDA today and did a very fruitful shop with enough food to last the week and a bit more for £27. Part of my haul though involves a packet of Herta frankfurter sausages and a packet of 4 frozen Mr Brains faggots. What I want to know is, if I eat say 4 frankfurters in rolls and make chilli dogs, can I freeze the other 4? if not, how long will they last once out of their vacuum packaging in a tupperware in the fridge?
Secondly, I cannot possibly eat all 4 faggots in one sitting, so, can you reheat them say the next day, or, can I refreeze them once cooked and then reheat at a later date?

I would just freeze the things as they are. In small enough portions that you can defrost easily later. As long as the frankfurters haven't already been frozen and defrosted, they should be okay.
Faggots, I have no experience of at all. So hopefully someone else can help. If you have to defrost the whole lot though, should be okay to cook and then freeze half.Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These

I'm afraid I'm not going to give good news, but I WOULD NOT heat the faggots and then re-freeze nor would I keep them to re-heat later either - Sorry
The sausages, I know the ones you mean, but I can't say without reading the packet, not sure if they freeze or not.
Failing that, I'd keep them in the fridge for the following day, not much longer.0 -
are the faggots cooked? If not then you can cook, refreeze and then defrost and eat. If already cooked you shouldn't refreeze.
No idea on frank's -maybe 3 days or so once openedPeople seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

I've frozen frankfurters successfully after using part of a packet but don't heat the ones to be frozen first.
The faggots are probably already cooked then frozen so you shouldn't heat and refreeze half the packet - just keep it well wrapped in the fridge. It should be fine for a day or two."Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass...it's about learning how to dance in the rain." ~ Vivian Greene0
