Short changed by a newsagents kiosk and they refused to rectify it
I went to a small newsagents kiosk in a busy shopping mall and purchased something for 89p. I paid with a £10 note but only received £4.11 change. I argued with the shop keeper that I gave him ten pounds but he insisted that I only gave him a fiver. I refused to leave and wrote down his managers details and he told me to…

A hole in my £70 in 3 months! Can I take them back
I bought a pair of boots from Aldo on 12th September. They were £70. I have worn them, but not everyday and they have a hole in the front of the right boot and nearly a hole in the left one. I spoke to the cobbler today and he said he could not fix them. Surely boots for £70 should last more than 3 months? Can I take them…

buyers rights on ebay when item does not arrive?
Hi all - a quick question. I purchased an item (buy it now) from an Australian ebay seller on 15 November. It hasn't arrived and from experience (family in Australia post to me regularly) it now won't turn up, unless she's sent it seamail. I've asked for a full refund but she's only prepared to offer a partial refund,…

UK Mail
I’ve been told last night by Orange that a handset was attempted to be delivered to my OH's work address yesterday. This is an interesting one for me, as she was at the location personally within the delivery slot time (9-1) and they’re now asking for £6 for a failed delivery. Where this gets even more interesting is that…

Importing from USA arranging my own postage
I'm currently in negotiation with a company in America for one of their products. The cost of the item is $760 and the postage cost is $200. Based on the import duty calculator, the import duty is 2.7% + 20% VAT. This comes in at £754.33. Which isn't a deal breaker but they have said that other people have arranged their…

Hello All, My Wife and I went to see 'Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy' when it was in the cinema. Courier has done a runner - any suggestions?
Hi all, First of all, I'm pretty sure there's no options left here, but I thought I'd throw it open to MSE to see if anyone has any good ideas. Secondly, the person responsible has already had a "you shouldn't have done it" speech from me, so I don't need to hear it again! MotherSpoon purchased a piece of antique furniture…

F.A.R.T opinions on time scales
Hi All, I've got a Toshiba 46" LCD tv that has just gone on the blink. Repair-man tells me it's the screen and therefore it isn't worth the repair. My question is, and using the FART acronim, is two years and 9 months past a 'reasonable amount of time'? This was a £700 (down from £1200) purchase for us at that time. It…
