The scheduled arrival was 20th Dec, so i checked my account which said the above.

I'm wanting this item in time for Xmas & there's only tomorrow left. Am i looking like i'm out of luck?
Still early days or contact Amazon for information?

  • I think that's Yodel delivery who are not too great by all accounts.

Can you buy an alternative somewhere else as a backup and then return the amazon one when/if it eventually arrives. However you will possibly be liable for return postage costs but that may be a risk worth taking.

I don't have the funds at the moment to do that. I can wait if needs be.

That's bad news if it's Yodel. I've had 1 experience of them myself & a friend had another:

My experience: parcel CLEARLY marked up as do not leave with neighbours. Guess where it was left? Yes, down the road & they got told we weren't in .... I'm on crutches, i can't really get anywhere. I was on the sofa all day, which through the window you can see anyone approaching the front door (we only have a front anyway). Nonsense!

Friends experience: Package due to arrive on the Monday. Day taken off work as paid for a Monday delivery. Yes you've heard this one before ... arrives on Tuesday. Nonsense!

Just been on the HDNL website.
20/12/2011 06:58:00 BAM_BRIDGE DEPOT The parcel has been received into depot
20/12/2011 09:08:00 BAM_BRIDGE VAN The parcel has been loaded on to the drivers van
20/12/2011 18:33:00 BAM_BRIDGE DEPOT The parcel is in the Depot

So it's been in the drivers van for 2 days doing SFA. Unlikely.
  • I'm having exactly the same with Parcelforce. I have two parcels which the trackers says have been on the van for delivery since early Monday morning. Nonsense.

I rang them and they said they are experiencing a massive backlog in my area at the moment, but they are going to try their best to deliver all parcels before Christmas. We'll see.

Slightly more info when i go on their website.

The package was loaded on their van Tuesday morning & then returned to depot Tuesday night.

What a load of crap. Currently on hold to them after i'd tried to select re-delivery which i wasn't allowed to.

Let's see what crap excuse they select.

Ahh the old classic of a card was left for you.

Sorry mate, i'm on crutches, i can't get about, i can assure you nobody has left any card & nobody has been to the door!

He takes an attitude. All i can do is arrange re-delivery.

I could barely hear the chap, he was so damn quiet, with a thick Scouse accent which i struggled understanding.

Good thing i'm not having to take time off work, otherwise i would've wasted annual holiday & pay!!

Is there a complaints procedure here? For this one claiming to have left a card & also the last one having left with neighbours after i specifically stated NOT to.

I've had two tracked parcels from Amazon today.

On speaking to my postman - They are tracked but not signed for and the postman are not meant to return them to the depot. He was unsure what he was meant to do with them if I wasn't in.

It sounds like a confusing system and no one really knows what to do.

I work for a delivery firm, so i know all the excuses. I see it day in day out.

If we can't find a place (& we don't just give up at the first attempt), we ask in the area. We try other means. A call goes back to head office for a final decision. IF in the unlikely event that we STILL can't find them after much trying, then the customer is called & the matter is spoken about. They're not left wondering what's going on.

And we never stop a day just because it's getting late.
