Odeon Cinema Complimentary Tickets?

Hello All,
My Wife and I went to see 'Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy' when it was in the cinema. After 15 minutes of sitting in the cinema sweltering the film was paused and an usher came in and announced the air conditioning was broken.
We were given the choice of sitting it out or complimentary tickets to watch another film at another time. We chose to do this.
Due to having a young child we are limited to how often we can go out so with family coming for Christmas we decided to take advantage of this. We called to book tickets to the new Sherlock film. We were told that the tickets were limited to certain films only, none of which we are interested in seeing (All were U rated).
Can they do this? We paid full price to watch a film that had just been released so why can't we watch one now?
Thanks

Speak to the manager at the cinema. It'll usually get a positive reponse when you explain the source of your free tickets. The staff may not have knowledge of the air conditioning event and free tickets are usually reserved for films a week or two after the release date.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Seems to me they're offering the films on a like-for-like basis (based on rating). The only problem is, this is one of the few situations where this can be very difficult indeed.
I'd definately speak to the manager and explain the situation in the hope he will allow you to book another film. Otherwise fire a letter off to head office with your tel.no., with any luck they'll sort it out for you.0 -
I'd certainly be asking again. We had a jinxed run of visits to Vue cinema where we 1) were evacuated due to a fire 2) missed a 15 minute chunk of film when the projector broke 3) had to sit through a noisy row followed by an ejection after some other customers started fighting. The replacement tickets we were given were valid for any film we wanted to see at any time0

Went to the cinema today to try and buy tickets. The manager point blank refused to let me use the 'Guest Tickets' as the film was 'Free Listing Suspended' meaning the first 2 weeks were for 'normal' tickets only.
I asked her if she could extend the expiry date (1/1/12) on the tickets but she refused, saying I'd had 2 months to use them and it wasn't her fault there was nothing on that I wanted to watch.
I asked for a refund, she refused.
I have paid good money to watch a film but due to their failings I am left with the option of binning the tickets or sitting through a couple of hours of Alvin and the Chipmunks.0 -

Probably a bit late now, but you should have demanded a refund in the first place. I think you need to talk to Odeon's head office and don't allow yourself to be fobbed off.The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -

It's amazing how people like this manager take ridiculous positions that they really can't defend. The trouble is that OP now has to spend an unreasonable amount of time dealing with Head Office to get them to do something the manager should have done in the first place. I think your complaint to Head Office should include a line or two about the attitude of the manager and whether it is giving a good impression of the chain.0
