You're right, it is personal. Your post perfectly illustrates what these parasites rely on. I had a friend pay in Scotland rather than face the stress of continually writing back to them. I had told her to simply ignore and it would go away. It frustated me no end, but I had to let it go.
Al.
ps I hope you do end up paying £60; preferably at a decent restuarant with your family while celebrating your victory. :-)
I am gone past the £60 stage. It's now £165 or nothing!0 -

Traindriver4 wrote: »I have stated I am going to make a stand even though the outcome is not clear cut. Previous judgements for and against the PPC's are not precedents. The whole thing sucks and becomes a lottery. I can understand yours and other people's hatred of the PPC's but they are conducting their business LEGALLY and their court threats are REAL. Until such time as when motorists can collectively take these PPCs to court, it is going to be down to the individual to make decisions based on their own circumstances. So please stop being judgemental!
But they aren't running them 100% legally. ACS Law operated a business model that extorted over a £1,000,000 before the scam was closed down in court. They are sailing as close to the wind as possible and in some cases, I'd say beyond. Just because certain aspects of their case have never been fully tested in court, does not mean it say what they are doing is legal.
These invoices are cleverly designed to look like genuine parking tickets as issued by The Police and Council Wardens. If they simply said "invoice for breach of contract" then far less people would pay up. Add to this the pre-estimate of loss, etc, etc, then if this really got tested in court, then a precedent would be set. We do already have some good test cases, which we quote to PoPLA and in Court, but like anything legal, you win some and lose some.Search my post " PoPLA evidence - What to submit" on what is a good defense for a PoPLA appeal.0 -
Keeper liability in POFA 2012 = PCN sum + court fee. No CCJ if you lose then pay.
