Good luck, can't offer any help unfortunately but hope it goes ok.

Take no notice of the abusive ones, as pointed out by the more reasonable ones on here, it is not their time or money at risk and unless they have been in your position they are not in a position to criticise you.

If they feel that strongly maybe they could pay for you to get some legal representation?

Its not illegal as such as they operate legitimately. However it doesn't mean they are acting lawfully, just look at the PPI scandal as an example, they operate as banks etc, which is a legitimate business, but they have done something that requires them to compensate people for their actions.

The same for the parking companies, they operate outside of their Code of Practice set out by the BPA, and they breach the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012 on numerous points, by doing this they are acting unlawfully, the only way it can be deemed so if it really goes to court.

And as for abusive comments, really you need to grow up a little, I am sorry if that comes across as abuse, but you come here acting like a troll so you get treated as one. I don't take back anything I have said previously, if you can't handle dealing with this, stop wasting our time and simply pay it.

If you want to fight this, well stay here and get constructive advice, liek we give to 1000s of people before you

There seem to be many regular posters on this forum who get truly angry if someone decides to pay a parking charge. They seem to take it as a personal insult.

    Why?

Not angry, I have given my position! But you just come here and offer nothing in any way, every time you come here you are the same!

    Why?

  • EDIT - I've just noticed you've only got 2 posts to your name, and both on this thread, so you couldn't have taken any personal advice from here, so you've no grounds for any beefing about the forum. Strange attitude?[/QUOTE]

Sorry didn't see this edit. Yes only have this thread because ive been following the advice on the forum, didn't request any personal advice because other newbies have been told that the information they need is contained withinh many similar threads. Also quite afraid of giving away information that PE can track me down with, but I suppose they already know I've been on here from my Acknowledgement letter! I'm just saying that there is no follow up on here! No encouraging tales!! Please don't take offence!

    Simple, really.
    * Those regulars know it's a scam, and know it doesn't have to be paid
    * They also know there's a way to get it quashed
    * They spend many hours of their own time helping others for nothing, and feel snubbed when folk come here and openly spurn that dedication
    But mostly, IMO
    * Paying up is activley SUBSIDISING an utterly corrupt industry, akin to paying a !!!!! protection racket.

I think I might set up my own PPC. Imagine the profits I could make out of the 50% of drivers/keepers that do pay on receipt of a PCN. I'm sure I could make the letters look more threatening than some others...and I'll always send a LBA to those who don't appeal through POPLA.

Me personally, I've had loads of PCN's (about 1 per month)....some I ignore, some I appeal. I never pay, have never paid and I really don't think I will ever be forced to pay.

I have just read the entire thread again, nobody has abused you on here, they just told you the reality of it, if you want to help fund this scam, pay up without a fight, that is up to you, and is an option, its your money and time not ours, so you decide.

  • Sorry cant get the hang of the 'quote' function. Yes Stroma I do want to fight it, even just to prove some people wrong, that I'm not 'stupid', a 'fool', 'spineless' etc.

I would really appreciate some advice when the court papers drop.

You will get that advice here. When and if the court papers drop through your door it is essential that you acknowledge service of the papers this gives you another 14 days to respond. Then you respond denying the claim. They then have some more forms to fill out and more fees to pay. Ask the PPC for mediation which is much cheaper than going to court and it's all done by telephone. Come back here and get more information when you get to that point...it takes months to get to that point. If they refuse to use the mediation service then the case goes to court but as you have asked for mediation they can't ask you to then pay the court fees.

Keep posting and fight it , afraid this part of the forum gets regular new members who post a parking enforcement company bias , ie I will pay the "fine" , they took me to court and I lost ( we never find evidence to support ! ) and so on

An attempt to scare people into not fighting

The more cynical of us thought this was just another attempt to do the same :)
