Best place for new towels
It's time to replace our towels, which are a mis-match of 15 year old hand me downs (those are from Christy) and cheapies. I simply want a nice set of good quality, matching towels in a muted mid or dark blue. Happy to spend up to £200 for 4 hand towels, 4 bath sheets and 4 bath mats. I ordered 'denim' towels from Christy…

Weekly Flylady Thread 28th July 2021
Welcome to the weekly
Flylady Thread. What
is FLYLADY? Well, it's our version of the US flylady idea - but we work on the
principle that housework is not fun, it's boring, can be time-consuming, is
often thankless but, unfortunately, necessary. It's here on Old Style to
provide the support we all need and to make the whole…

Get milk delivered, worried about it in heat as I sleep late - any ideas on how to keep it chilled?
I get the old fashioned doorstep deliveries, the thing is though it arrives normally around 6am sometimes as early as 5am and I normally even on a good day sleep till around 10am, a few times I have woken up during the night to take milk in, but the past weeks heat has gotten to me and I have often slept 10-12 hours on top…

Large 5p's (shillings) and 10p's (two shillings) coins
I have some old 5p's and 10p's dating from after the Second World War to the late seventies. I tried a couple of banks and the post office. They won't take them. Can I get rid of them anywhere?

Teenager (18yo) and 1 week summer intensive course
Last year my daughter gained a place at a prestigious 'company' (not sure how else to describe it, without risking identification). She was 16 when she applied and 17 when she was accepted onto their Junior program. Usually you then do a 2 week day/residential which makes you a member and then you remain one until you…

Cooking silverside beef joint in slow cooker?
I've had a 1.2kg joint of silverside beef in the freezer for a while now and planning to use it when family visit next week for a roast. It's not something I normally buy due to the price (it was marked up as almost £13, but I paid £2.50 with a yellow sticker) so not sure how to cook it. I don't fancy putting the oven on…

MaMade oranges and breadmaker
I’ve discovered jam making in the breadmaker. So much easier! Just wondered if anyone has made marmalade using the MaMade pre-prepared oranges using a breadmaker (mine’s a Panasonic) Did you use the whole tin and same quantities? How long did you set it for?
