This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning folks.Yesterday was a strange mix of good and less good. 🙂 The good was that Alan arrived very early to dismantle my bed, which he did very quickly. I did a quick run to the tip and PO whilst he did that. Then began my long wait for BHF to come. I spent some time photographing the paintings, this was frustrating as most are under glass so reflected back too much. I move around the flat trying to avoid the glare but, unfortunately, there is a shadow of me in many of them. A woman from BHF rang me at 4pm to say that the lorry had broken down...not sure I completely buy that but hey ho! So, they are coming at 8.00am this morning- no lie in at my hotel. To add to the 'not good bit' my Dutchman sent me a text to say he couldn't make to me today. Good bit is that Alan agreed to be a substitute. 😀
My hotel stay is most pleasant, perhaps I'll try somewhere else if I need another stay. I'm up early for 6.30am breakfast. Not only is BHF coming at 8.00a,m. but the Welsh dresser is being uplifted before 11.a.m., the cleaner and Alan are also coming. It'll be a busy day so I'll need my breakfast.I hope that everyone is doing OK. Happy Tuesday to all.13 -
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Cloudy but warm start to the day.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst I'm on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was breaded chicken, chips and beans for DH, DS1 had breaded chicken, rice and veg and I had fish, veg and jacket potato ( a frozen side that needed using up and menfolk weren't keen on it). Tonight will be braised beef, LO veg and pots.
Yesterday was busy but not so manic, had my first meeting with my new boss, that seemed to go well, and she seems ok - we'll see how things move forward. She did give me some good news that I can't share and it was a surprise as I wasn't expecting it.
Enjoying watching the Olympics - have always enjoyed watching it - we're doing pretty well for a small country.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning, and thanks for starting Gers - sorry to hear your day didn't go to plan yesterday. It's a fine start here, yesterday was a nice warm day, I didn't do much, i did a few household jobs then sat about basically. My arm is much better thanks to the antibiotics, it's still fat, but the colour is fading, from my wrist upwards,Thanks for the good wishes everyone.i must go out for a birthday card today, it's Ds's birthday on Friday, and, I know some of my fellow cardmakers will agree with me on this, it's hard to make cards for men.The quiz is on tonight, so we'll go to that.Hope everyone has a good day today, thinking of our poorly people, and those who haven't posted for a while.Take care folks13

Morning folks and thanks GERS. I hope you enjoyed a hearty breakfast to sustain you through the day, with no more let downs today.
I've just been catching up on the overnight Olympic events and the medals keep on coming. It lifts the spirits.
The numbers of poorlies and poorly loved ones on here keep coming too. DUMPLING I hope today brings good news on your DM as well as your DS. SCARLET pleased to hear your arm seems to be on the mend. MADDIE I hope DM is comfortable. CAMELOT you be careful with your loch swimming, there have been around 30 deaths this summer alone with open water swimming throughout the UK.
Yesterday I didn't achieve much at all other than pegging washing out and bringing it back in. I just felt tired all day but I suppose that was the after effects of having the 3 girlies here all w/e. I watered the tubs and plants too but that didn't involve much effort apart from directing the hose in their direction! Oh and I also had an absolute mountain of shopping to put away. One or two subs in my favour and one oos - a cucumber!! A bit miffed about that as I had finished my last bit at lunchtime. I suppose I can survive without one for a while!!
I'm back to my regular Tuesday morning meet up with my oldest friend this morning. A couple of coffees followed by lunch and as it's still quite mild, and no rain is expected, we will be able to sit outside again. Forecast is for light rain this afternoon so my brolly better come with me.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all our poorlies and MIA. Take care one and all, be safe x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"12 -
Morning all.
A quick visit from me this morning. It's a bit drizzly this morning and I have to go to the dentist to have a filling replaced in about an hour, something I'm never keen on and it's a new dentist so I hope all goes to plan.
This leaves DH looking after 2 yr old DGS whilst I'm out so I hope he isn't too exhausted! They might go out with the pushchair to get a newspaper if it isn't too wet.
GERS we stayed at Grasshoppers on our only visit to Glasgow and it was wonderful. It's a bit of a cross between an hotel and a b&b and a bit quirky but they used to leave trays of nice nibbles out for people to help themselves and breakfast was a bit like stating with family. We would happily stay there again.
Have a good day everyone and good thoughts for all the poorlies and otherwise troubled people.13 -
Hi everyone,
TA, snap, it took me two days to recover from Esben wrangling, he's getting heavier to pick up and carry!
Steve's gone to play golf for the second time in two days so I shall have a quiet morning. I want to deep clean the en-suite, I know how to live.
Laura rang last night, they have moved on from their first destination to a hobbit house. Apparently it is tiny, although supposed to sleep 5 (in a triple bunk and a sofa bed which when open takes up all the floor space). They also found it had no bedding and when Brian asked where it said that on the website was pointed to the descriptions of the other two on site which said that they had bedding, I think they are charging not far off what we charge for a 9 bed house in Yorkshire. The owner told them to go and buy sleeping bags from Argos - thankfully they are only there another night.
I'm glad your arm is getting better Scarlet, that sounded very nasty. Dumpling, I'm glad your sister is feeling a bit better and that her scan was clear.12 -
Morning everyone
Gers - it's a shame you couldn't have had a lie in at the hotel.
Scarlet - glad your arm's getting better - the same thing happened to youngest DD a couple of years ago
Well I woke in the night to what I thought was my two cats fighting - shouted and one dived out of the cat flap and I went back to sleep. There is grey cat hair all over my living room this morning - which doesn't belong to either of my two! So some other cat must have came in the cat flap and the noise was my boys seeing him off! Hopefully he'll not do it again...biggest cat is lying in wait just inside the flap in case he tries!
So I have hoovering to do and then I'm planning to start cleaning my carpets as I've borrowed the machine from work.
DD is dropping little one off later this morning - I'm going to take her to the park in town as it's a nice morning. Showers are forecast from later this afternoon for the rest of the week.
Well I'd better make a start. Hope everyone has a good day

I forgot to say, Laura is a bit concerned about their house after all the flooding (they're only a few minutes away from Whipp's Cross hospital). Hopefully it will be ok and the cellar hasn't flooded.12

Morning all dog walked and tea being drunk DW unloaded and reloaded beds to do today other than that not a lot weather looks to be ok so should be able to get that out on the line
Snoozer How awful I hope Laura leaves a truthful review with pictures I think a lot of people have jumped on the rental bandwagon this year and know they can get away with providing very little as people are desperate to get away
Scarlet Glad to hear the meds are doing their thing
Dumpling thinking of all your family hope your Dsis has been moved from ICU and that mum is comfortable
Maddie Thinking of you and your mum I hope she is comfortable
Gers nearly there lovely hopefully the end is now in sight for you
Right better get on have a good day whatever you are up to stay safe x

Good Morning All
I've been for another loch swim this morning, no sunshine but the views were stunning. Thanks for the concern, I amvery careful - never go alone, we don't go out very far and have inflatable buoys strapped to us. I also wear a bright pink swimming hat! There always seem to be lots of folk there in the early morning, seems like quite a popular thing at the moment.
I've had a shower, change of swimming cossie and am off to the pool in a minute to take the little one for a dip, I seem to forever be in the water!
Washing is on but it may have to stay inside today, rain is forecast later and it is overcast this morning. I found a picnic blanket at the beach this morning so it's been on a hot wash and is on the line, seemed a shame not to re-home it, it will live in the car and will be ideal for beach visits as it has a waterproof backing.
Hope the BHF have been and gone Gers, shame you had to get up so early.
Hoping everyone is well or recovering, take care.XX
