O/S Daily Friday 30 July 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Dark, wet and overcast start to the day here, rain looks set in for the day, lots of laying water too.
Dinner last night was "use up" night, we had salad, ham, med veg tart (HM), boiled egg, scotch egg, pork pie (menfolk), jacket potato - lovely it was. Tonight will be something quick and easy. Food shop to do this morning. I then have quite a few jobs to do but I'll make my way through the "list".
Keep safe and well x

Good morning, thanks for starting NMLC.It's a dry fine start here today, yesterday turned out quite nice.I didn't go out at all yesterday, but did most of the ironing, then set to going through wardrobes, tidying, and putting a few things aside for the charity shop.I must go out today though, take my books back to the library, and we'll take my youngest's birthday card over. I left it loo late to post. We'll probably see them tomorrow, but I want him to have it today, his actual birthday.I'll finish my anti b's today, and I'm pleased, they are so hard to swallow, and you can't take them with food, They are a soft capsule and they seem to stick. Still, they've worked, that's the main thing.Thinking of our poorly people and those struggling with life - take care folks10

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. After around 3 or 4 weeks wanting rain we have now had 4 days of it, with more forecast. Ok that's enough now, gardens are well watered. At least yesterday's wind has dropped.
Friday Tidy day, these blooming Friday's do roll round quickly. It will be done in among Olympics watching so will no doubt take me all day! Kitchen and bathroom got done yesterday so that eases the burden a bit. I am still awaiting a date for the boiler and replacement pipes to start and it's getting me down thinking of the upheaval. He promised "some time" in August and would give me a date nearer the time. There are cupboards to empty and carpets to lift so that he can get under the house, plus access to the loft, once I know and then me and Sparkle will escape to our "summer residence". out of the way.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, woeful and getting better. Thoughts again with CSARINA and especially SS coping with his grief Take care one and all and stay safe x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"12 -
Morning All
The weather is a bit non-descript this morning but I think it's to stay dry. Will do a towel wash once I've had a shower.
Wrangling the little one was good fun yesterday, we went for a walk along the canal, bumped into a work friend on my way with her dog so stopped at hers for a cold drink and a chat, the little one played with some toys and was totally in love with the dog - he's a huge, gentle golden doodle - she even let him take a treat from her hand. I don't think I know of another dog I would trust so much to be kind and gentle.
It was good for DD and her OH to have an afternoon out and have a relaxed meal and drink in the city, they enjoyed a child free trip.
Nothing much happening today, must do some shopping and pick peas, they are coming thick and fast. There will probably be more courgettes too, they seem never ending!
Hope the poorlies are recovering and everyone else is well, take care. XX10 -
Morning all
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
We have Wi-Fi where we are moored now, We had to empty the black water tank by hand y'day as the pump out wasn't working, it took a couple of hours to empty both of them. We then moved 2 miles with four locks, as we are in two boats each lock needs to be done twice. Once we moored up I cleaned all the windows and cooked a meal. We are moving one day and resting the next, on rest days I clean the boat, today it's the bathroom which is difficult to clean as it's very dark, it only has a very small porthole and all the wood is dark. I need to clean the back area too, where we sit out.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.11 -
Morning, hugs if you need one.
Thank you for your messages yesterday. It was a huge shock, bringing back memories of my son Nicholas. L had a 17 year old daughter as well as the little one who is 2. I guess she was in her late 30's. They had just got engaged and were looking at getting married next year. I feel so much for her parents, she was an only child.
Did not sleep well last night, so feeling tired this morning, fortunately not much to do, although I need to go to the PO for some cash.
It has rained overnight, we need it so badly, the ground is so cracked and dry, just now the sun is trying to come through. We are forecast more rain later.
Supper will be Friday fish and chips, no idea how it happened on a Friday but it did.........
Edit: I forgot to say we were watching Escape to the Chateau DIY last night. In the shots taken in Grandma's kitchen, on the wall under the sign that Angel had made, was the embroidered verse I sent to Jenny, angels mum. I was not quick enough to get the camera out, but this morning in an e mail Angel had sent me the photographs. Fame at last!! Sorry it posted the picture at the top.6 -
Morning everyone
Csarina - that's awful news for your family - take care
DD and I took little one to the park just over the border yesterday. We went after tea so it was quiet - she had a great time, especially when DD pushed us on a roundabout! I was shouting help help while she was shouting faster faster!
I'm going into town later to have lunch with my mam - it's ages since we did it so will be nice. My dad has a carer for a couple of hours on a Friday afternoon, so my mam gets a break. I don't really need anything but will have a look in the charity shops.
Then little one is coming after nursery to spend the night - I'm hoping she settles better than she did the other night.
So I'm going to get on with a few jobs - take care everyone

Morning all
Very blustery here and its been raining too, it looks like autumn out there ! I had a busy day yesterday with lots of running around so I intend to be busy this morning and then have a rest this afternoon.
Im going to clean through downstairs and then get the dogs out for a walk and then come back and watch a film and possibly have a nana nap.
Dinner tonight will be some breaded chicken with chips and coleslaw, I will make the coleslaw later as I much prefer hm to shop bought ones. The chicken and chips are just shove in the oven ones so no effort which is nice on a Friday.
Csarina I am so sorry to hear your bad news, what a shock her poor parents must be devestated xx
Its just started pouring so looks like I will get wet on my morning walk
Have good days all and take care xx
