What's your 'cheapest' diet?
This is for people on maybe £10 a week or less for food. Per person. I know this sounds bad but it's a fact of life. Apart from visiting the food bank, here's mine (excluding 'reduced') Spaghetti hoops with microwaved potato. Porridge oats (either raw or cooked if I can afford to top up the Lecky)One banana (per day)Tinned…

Christmas veg special this year?
I remember last year and perhaps the proceeding one most of the supermarket chains did a special on winter veg (potatoes being particularly handy) all at around 20p a bag. Is there any news or word whether the same thing will happen this year? I want to prepare some space so I can stock up if this happens!!!!

Food Shopping in modern times
Rather a sensitive topic, would you call £700 for two people enough for only food shopping, I think I know the answer, however, I would like people's comments by the way this was in 2014.

Best value heated throw?
My mother is struggling with heating bills. I'm going to buy her a heated throw. They seem pretty pricey though. Any good value recommendations?

Weekly Flylady Thread 5th December 2022
What is FLYLADY? Well, it's our version of the US flylady idea - but we work on the principle that housework is not fun, it's boring, can be time-consuming, is often thankless but, unfortunately, necessary. It's here on Old Style to provide the support we all need and to make the whole task easier and quicker. We also…

Selleotape hand/wrist dispenser refills?
Hoping someone can help here? I have 2x sellotape dispensers that are 'worn' around the hand with a stretchy strap. You dispense by pulling a 3cm or so piece of sellotape. They were really popular a few years ago, and for good reason in that you never wasted any and it was tidy and took up no space and made wrapping…

today is: National microwave oven day!
December 6th. Who knew?? Looks like the humble microwave will come into its own this year- certainly a frugal way of cooking things, i had forgotten you can cook cakes in there! But for a really good snigger, and we all need one of those, I heard Nigella Lawson pronouncing the word on the radio this morning. It's here in…

O/S Daily Tuesday 6th December
Morning! Well I don't think I'll be sleeping any time soon, no idea why, except maybe head going a million miles an hour about stuff to do and stuff I have to do. Got the Christmas tree yesterday and it's lovely piney smell is permeating the house like a Harrods version of posh toilet cleaner..I had some really long…

Eating bird seeds to save money
I was in my local high street earlier and noticed big bags of peanuts and bird seeds. It was a massive bargain at Wilko and if I'm honest they really don't taste bad at all. I'm pretty stuffed and pleased with the value so thought I'd share this? How come regular nuts and seeds are so expensive? Seems like exactly the same…
