Getting stains out of kids clothes
I never seem to be able to get any stains out of kids clothes. DS came home this week having managed to make every single one of his white school polo shirts filthy. I soaked them in vanish for the maximum time and then put them in the washing machine. It’s almost made no difference at all. How do people get these things…

Stewing meat or sirloin?
As energy is so expensive, is it better to buy cheaper cuts of meat and cook in oven for up to two hours, or buy expensive cuts which only take a short time to cook in frying pan? I don't have a slow cooker or air fryer.

Weekly Flylady Thread 23 May 2022
Welcome to the weekly Flylady Thread. What is FLYLADY? Well, it's our version of the US flylady idea - but we work on the principle that housework is not fun, it's boring, can be time-consuming, is often thankless but, unfortunately, necessary. It's here on Old Style to provide the support we all need and to make the whole…

Rice Pudding In A stovetop Pressure Cooker
In the hope of saving some energy I bought a pressure cooker at Lidl. So far what I've cooked has turned out pretty well, sometime it needs a little tweak. Rice pudding escapes me. Anyone with a recipe for rice pudding? I've searched on line but quantise are all over the place and most are in cups and for instant pot type…

I have a 10 tog double duvet that I would like to wash (have brought out our lighter tog summer duvet). I have been quoted £20 by the dry cleaners. Remoska - cheaper than oven?
I have a standard size remoska which I only use in our motorhome. Now I'm wondering if it would be cheaper to use that in the house instead of the cooker? For instance tonight we are having sausage pasta bake which I made a few weeks back and froze. So it will only take about 30 mins to heat it up. Am I better using the…

Disguise the taste of musty vino?
Hi people I found a load of forgotten wineboxes lurking at the back of a cupboard. They've been there for about 8 months (unopened). The wine isn't 'off' (it hasn't turned to vinegar), but it tastes kindof musty (compared with a new box of the same stuff). Any creative thoughts to disguise its taste and turn it into a…
