Good morning, thanks for starting NMLC.
It's a damp start this morning, summer seems to have deserted us.
Jackie, well done to Dgs Ben for all those potatoes, he's done well. Hope you are ok.
Camelot your mojo will come back soon and you'll be painting away like a good 'un, you deserved a break anyway, sounded like a big job.
TA and Gers, hope you enjoyed your days out yesterday.
Snoozer, it must be hard at times living with family, especially when children are part of the mix, not always ideal is it.
Coxy, hope you get a decent offer for VR.
Carolbee, it's strange about people not tidying or cleaning before EA's photos. A friend who was wanting to move last year said the same thing about some of the houses she viewed.
Mehefin, good to hear from you, pity about the wasps' nest, but as you say they can turn a bit nasty.
I know I've missed people, sorry about that. There was a lot of news yesterday.
Not a lot going on here. Today I've got a hospital appt for my osteoporosis trestment, I'm never there long, it's just an injection. Then this afternoon taking some shopping to a couple of our old lady friends.
Hoping Ruby is all right, and thinking of anyone who is poorly, hope you feel better soon SuffolkSue.
Take care folks.13 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Yesterday was quite a nice day and the promised rain didn't appear until early evening, and then it was just light stuff. It still looks damp out there but the sun is rising so it may be a nice day! One can hope!
Yesterday didn't go to plan unfortunately. My friend's DH phoned early doors to tell me she was quite poorly and couldn't meet me. She is one of those people who is never ill and he sounded quite worried. She had been shopping with one of her DD's on Monday and they had a quick coffee and bacon sandwich for lunch. Overnight she was up with d & v which continued all day Tuesday and by yesterday morning she was still throwing up. They are assuming it was food poisoning from the sandwich although her DD is ok. I will check on her today and hope she is feeling a bit better.
As I didn't feel like staying in when I thought I was going out I got the bus along to the next little town and stocked up on a few bits which will run out before my O delivery next week. A new CS had opened since my last visit there so I had a nosy round. I spotted a brand new M & S t-shirt which I snapped up. And they had the biggest selection of dvd's I have ever seen. By comparison there weren't many books so I assume the residents there prefer to watch films rather than read!
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need. I now hear Croatia is affected by the fires so as well as thinking of RUBYT I am now hoping Dp1 is ok too. Take care all be safe xx

Morning all well a full nights sleep and i am feeling a bit more human yesterday we had a lovely time in the garden playing on all the outdoor toys that i have managed to source from our local regifting page the weather was lovely not too hot as DGS is blonde hair and blue eyes so i need to be careful . Washing was planned for today but i see the rain is back with us ao looks like it will be drying on the airer .
I haven't managed to catch up with all the news
TA i hope your friend feels a bit better today
Snoozer I get you sometimes i have to think twice and then say nothing to DD2 about DGS
Ruby seems to be unaffected for now with the fires as she has been posting some lovely pics
Coxy I hope you hear soon and the offer is what you were expecting
Carolbee I dont understand either i got a professional cleaning company in to do my house top to bottom when i put it on the market so it looked good and i would do the same again if we sell this house as once its done its easier to keep it that way and we only had viewings Fri-Sun so we could have a normal life during the week
Right better get on the annual alarm check is being done today then off out to do the weekly shop . Have a good day one and all stay safe and dry xx

Morning All
Damp and dreary again today although yesterday did brighten up for a while, I sat out reading for an hour but then it turned quite chilly.
Bagged some bargains for the little one from the outlet store and went into a discount food shop next door where you need a membership but they let us in for a day pass. I may apply for a card as there were some bargains to be had.
Going to visit DD and the little one as they have some friends over for lunch who I would like to see but I'm on a go slow today! Went to bed at 8pm last night as I was feeling rotten, a bit better this morning and I did have a good night's sleep. Just wish I could get rid of this terrible lurgy.
Will visit the allotment on my way to DDs, there are bound to be some more courgettes! The beans are doing well too so hopefully there will be a bag of them. At least I don't have to worry about watering!
Sorry to hear your friend is unwell TA, hope she recovers soon.
Pleased to hear you had a good night too bella.
Hope those wasps have gone Mehefin. What a strange set up for your funding.
Good luck with your move Carolbee, I've seen a few houses online that have needed a good clean and tidy so didn't bother to go and look.
Enjoy Banksy Gers.
Right, I've caught up with the Sewing Bee from last night so must go for a shower and start the day properly. Take care. XX

Morning all, thanks nmlc. It's been raining since 4 yesterday afternoon so the brook down the steps across the road is roaring again, sounds more like autumn/winter & the road sweeper is out too as a lot of the grids are blocked. We are not going into M/cr now, ex SisIL rang yesterday afternoon to say they had a family situation that meant they couldn't meet us & we'll have to rearrange. We toyed with the idea of still going but decided against it with the current weather, and instead we'll go to the retail park. DH needs a light jacket and we'll grab a bite to eat too. It's a shame as the timing was perfect for us,DH finished a job, and dgs away( back tomorrow).Bella thanks for the update that Ruby looks like she's having a good timeLooks like I need to catch up on some of yesterdays news, I'll go and do that now- have a good day all x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Morning all. Sun shining here but for how long?!
Went geocaching for a couple of hours yesterday morning and then helped DH put a few things in the loft and generally had a bit of a sort out. Ds has left us a bag for the charity shop - one of those huge checked things containing two adult fancy dress costumes - thanks a lot! He goes to the rugby at Twickenham with friends now and again and I've seen some of the photos
Today I'm off to get my hair cut and then this evening I'm out playing for the Morris at a pub about an hour away. I've taken some salmon out of the freezer and will have that with roasted veg but it will be early as I need to leave home about 6.15pm.
Final Ashes Test starts today - I'll be watching!
Happy Thursday everyone.12 -
Hi everyone,
Is it bad that I am counting the hours until the family go off to Glasgow for a few days.
Laura is setting up her acupuncture business and starts next week (just 2 days a week). She has been very busy setting up a website and flyering local houses but has already got two clients from that so fingers crossed she will make a success of it.
I watched the final of sewing bee last night, happy with the outcome because I chose that person as my favourite from the start, that doesn't often happen.
We tidied the garden yesterday and bought a new bay tree to replace the one that died this year, we lost so many plants in the really hard frost in December, the first time I can remember that happening, we still haven't replaced the Cordylines that died, if the winters are getting colder it may not be worth it, we aren't the sort of people who wrap plants up to protect them.
I hope none of our friends are caught up in the horrible fires. This time next week we'll be going to Kent on our way to Austria, I can't wait.
Have a good day.
