O/S Daily Thursday 29 July 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Brighter start to the day - we're forecast a mixed day - we'll see.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst I'm on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was fish, chips and beans/ fish and rice or fish and veg. Tonight will be a clearing up night as there's lots of bits in the fridge that need using up.
Work today will be busy but on day off tomorrow but working Saturday morning.
Keep safe and well x

Morning everyone.More overnight rain so I'm hoping that it'll hold off today. After my ever-changing day yesterday things should be calmer now. There's a lot to do still though I refuse to stress over it all. The important tasks are to make room in the small barn for the paintings and then to move them into it. The barn is dry but I want to cover them up, sometimes birds fly in and can poop. 🤭
My new mattress is so comfortable and the home router makes browsing so much easier.I'm still sending love to Maddie and her mum. Happy Thursday to all.13 -

Morning all looks like it will be a calmer day today we had all the seasons in one day here yesterday. I am off to Lakeside and cost*o I need to take a dress back that I ordered online its a monthly shop at the big warehouse mostly meat and household stuff other than that another boring day chasing quotes and waiting around for trades to come and quote
Dumpling thinking of you and your family
Ruby hows your sisters hand ?
Hester have a good moving day
Right better get the dog walked and get on
Hugs to all our poorlies those looking after them and those worrying about them .
A big wave to all our MIA's come back soon we miss you x
Right have a good day whatever you are up to stay safe xSlava Ukraini12 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. It's grey, wet and windy here too. It looks like autumn out there with flowers battered down and leaves all over the place. We are now paying the price for the heatwave we had! I hope we haven't had the last of summer before we even get to August!
Nothing planned for today other than a bit of cleaning in among Olympics watching. No medals overnight, but some very near misses.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all our poorlies, poorly loved ones and those getting better! Thinking of MADDIE. Take care one and all x

Morning all. Bright and sunny here today and I'm catching up with the Olympics over breakfast.
The pub geocaching event was good fun last night and there were about 20 of us so we had a pub meal, lots of chat and then 3 of us went out to look for a cache that was only across the road. We spent about 20 mins searching fruitlessly so came back to get someone else to help us and finally managed to find it before it got too dark! We were then caught in a sudden thunderstorm so made a dash for the car and drove home.
Today we will be packing and setting off for Sidmouth Folk Festival in Devon, an annual trip for us although the Festival will be on a much smaller scale this year. Better pack clothes for a mix of weather as the forecast isn't wonderful.
Have a good day everyone and best wishes to all the missing and poorlies.

Good morning all, sunny and windy here, brief rain showers and then a thunder storm yesterday, but need more rain really. Not doing very much, watching Olympics, pottering half-heartedly at chores and keeping in touch with my lovely siblings.
Sat with mum for a while yesterday, but the morning's bulletin from staff via middle brother was that she was slipping into a coma, no reaction to anyone while I was there, pleased that ATM she is not showing any signs of distress.
Gers yay to the new mattress and router making life more comfortable and less hassle. Bella I hope that the trades respond soon, so frustrating trying to gather all the info in. TA I hope that you have caught back after the GDs stay.
Just had a notification on my phone from FB that it is the birthday of someone who I was "friends with" on a support group for one of my medical conditions, a lovely cheery lass, sad thing is that she died a couple of years back, but her FB account still running, don't know if that is the choice of her family, or something they have not managed to get sorted. Good to think about her though.
On that rather odd note have the best day that you can, thank you for all your support. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)12 -
Morning all, I slept well and then was up with the larks this morning. It may have been all the decluttering I did yesterday 😁 I now only have one large lidded box containing the DGC's art stuff and a couple of dolls. "Tidy house, tidy mind " I suppose, unfortunately I'm sure I have some more stuff that is no longer needed in the built in cupboard. Will steel myself up to doing that but I doubt it will be today. Downside is that I have a large toy box, 2 medium baskets, a medium box and a small basket lying empty and waiting for me to fill them with something....... Noooo ! step away from the boxes ! I did keep all the board games, chess set and draughts set.Today the sun is shining so the wm is on with a load of clothes, there is a towel load waiting and I will wash my dining room table cloth and throw in the sofa cushion covers too, after that my day is my own.I have noticed that all the sparrows have disappeared, they usually stay in the same place all year and not migrate. They were in my trowing and next door's tree making a heck of a noise every day. I wonder where they've gone ?Take care all, stay safe.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently12

Morning All
Great service Gers, glad you're enjoying your new mattress.
My thoughts are with you Maddie.
It seems to be increasingly difficult to find trades these days bella.
Enjoy your trip Wicked Lady.
I've been for a swim, harder to get out this morning as it's a bit cooler with a breeze but enjoyed it all the same, just what I needed after a rubbish night, couldn't get to sleep then my next door neighbour seemed to have had a refreshment or two and wouldn't go into the house, his partner was telling hime to come in but he kept saying he was fine!
It's been raining a bit, I watered the pots and baskets yesterday as we hadn't really had a lot of the forecast rain, I think we've been very lucky.
Washing to go on when I've had a shower, may risk putting it out again although I'll not be back until late as it's DD's birthday today and I'm looking after the little one while her and her partner go to Glasgow for a meal and a drink.
Thinking of the poorlies and those missing, take care.XX12 -
Hi everyone,
Maddie, I hope your mother has another peaceful day. Your post about the Facebook friend has given me pause - I don't know how you keep your passwords confidential and yet allow relatives access after you've died. I will have to research what can be done.
I've got to get myself in gear for the next couple of days, I've been very lazy, finding myself being sucked in by the Olympics. I was so tired at the start of the week that I needed to recuperate but now I need to get on, you are all putting me to shame with your tidying and decluttering.
Tibs the cat is the most chilled she's ever been when staying with us, usually she disappears upstairs for most of the time when she stays with us but this time she's been hanging out with us in the living room most of the time. I am a dog person and although we're happy to have Tibs when needed it would never tempt me to get a cat whereas when we have Ziggy it does tempt us to get another dog.
Just editing to add we watched a wonderful programme last night, Chris Packham's The Walk that made me, it was very moving and also uplifting. I think that walk will become very popular.
