O/S Daily Saturday 31 July 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Dark, wet and overcast start to the day here, rain looks set in for the day, lots of laying water too.
DH watching catchup tv, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS1 still in his pit. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was breaded chicken, chips and beans for the menfolk, I had fishcakes and salad. Not sure about tonight.
I got done all the chores from the "to do" list yesterday - although housework hasn't been done, I'll just do a bit here and there as the week goes along.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning - thanks for starting us off nmlc.
Despite a pink sky last night there's a thick layer of clouds, perhaps the sun can burn through it later.Thursday was rather exhausting, I probably overdid things although I had some help in moving the many paintings from my car to the garden barn.Yesterday I was up and out the house before 8am. I drove up to Oban for some shopping, my fridge was almost totally empty apart from milk. When I got back the gardener was at work in the back though she moved into the jungle at the front. The two red currant bushes had plenty of fruit which I let her pick and take, I haven't the energy to deal with them this year.Today I'll be tackling some more of pile on the spare bed in between taking things easy. I was given some lovely freshly laid eggs by the stockman's wife yesterday so will have two for breakfast.Scarlet - it's good news about your arm, keep taking the tablets!Special hugs and ❤️ to Maddiemay.Happy Saturday to all.12 -
Morning folks and thanks for starting off NMLC. Enjoy your fresh eggs GERS. Hallelujah, no rain this morning, nor is any forecast, but nor is any sun come to that!
I plan on getting the first bus down into town this morning (if I can get myself moving!) and then the bus to the next little town along. Just a few bits are needed but the shops I want are not spread as far apart as here. It's a nice compact little town and a bit easier on my legs.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all our poorlies, poorly loved ones and the woeful amongst us. Take care one and all and be safe x

Morning All
We had rain last night, after I had watered the pots and baskets, typical! Overcast this morning but should stay dry.
Yesterday was a bit of a write off, didn't have any energy so had a little sleep which resulted in not being able to get to sleep last night. Never mind, there's always tonight.
I'm off to visit DS1 and the DGC today so should really get moving. Going to drop a bag in at the charity shop on the way. Should be there for lunch.
Thinking of you Maddie, hope your DM is comfortable.
Your fresh eggs sound lovely Gers, haven't had any for a while.
Enjoy your bus trip TA.
Right, off to the shower, hugs to the poorlies, take care. XX11 -
Hi everyone,
I seem to be limping through the days like some of you others. I felt really pathetic again yesterday and ended up asleep most of the afternoon. On Thursday afternoon I forced myself out for a walk instead of napping but I think I paid for it yesterday. Steve ended up making a fry up for dinner, unless I plan the meal he never thinks of it until it's too late to get anything out of the freezer, or to cook anything that takes longer than about 20 minutes. It's really annoying but I've stopped complaining about it because it's just another way that I end up making the decisions.
We stayed up very late watching the mixed triathlon so Steve is still fast asleep, worth it though. We've not been watching a lot of tv because we've been listening to an audio-book instead - Val McDermid's Skeleton Road.
Thinking of all the poorlies and people looking after the poorlies.13 -
Morning all
Its sunny here for now but with a lot of dark clouds looming we were hoping to bbq tonight but it looks like it will rain so maybe tomorrow.
We treated ourselves to a curry last night which was delicious but I started to feel a bit funny afterwards kind of super bloated and sick, I went up to bed at 9.30 but was up and down being sick for several hours, it didn't feel like food poisioning but like they had put something in the curry which did not agree with me, its put me off having a curry for a while, its a shame because we have used them for years and I have never had this before.
We need to spend some time in the garden today, the lawns need cutting and both hedges need a trim, the back hedge is too tall for us to get to the top but we can trim the sides a bit, we have a man coming to do it in August once the birds have finished nesting but it needs a bit of a tidy up now, I also have some plants to go in so will do that today.
Big pup is off to the vets in a while to check her scar, it all looks lovely to me so I dont think there is anything to worry about, she can go for a longer off lead walk as from tomorrow which she needs bless her its been a long 10 days for her not being able to run !
We will either bbq tonight or I will do some breaded chicken which was meant for last night.
Have good days all and take care xx11 -
Morning, hugs if you need one.
Grey day but DB tells me it will improve. We are off to a local market this morning.
Fencing and arch arrived yesterday to my surprise the arch was the one we saw in the yard and it does not need putting together. We have laid it flat on the lawn until we can get at sorting its position out and putting in the fencing.

Good morning everyone.
Mum slipped away about 5 O'clock yesterday, one of my DBs had sat with her for a while earlier and she was peaceful and breathing steadily, a little later the home phoned him to say that she had died peacefully.
Woke this morning to realise that I now have no relations that knew me as a baby, I am the eldest of our clan. Various of them have been given instructions from time to time regarding mum's wishes for her funeral, we will probably get together soon to pull things together. Plot next to DDad in village churchyard is waiting for her, lovely local undertakers will take care of a lot of it for us.
I am the only one of the five of us who moved away from the fold, so for 40 years I was unable to do that thing of dropping by and chatting about all manner of things, which is when all those little nuggets of information are gleaned, but it will all come together and be as she wished.
Today is quite bright and not too cold, losing myself in the garden (not literally, but could be achieved in one border) is my plan, interspersed with cups of tea and a fresh coffee, perhaps a naughty biscuit or two. Chicken to try and cook later in my all singing and dancing Ninja oven/grill/air fryer thingy, hope I don't cremate it.
Thank you for your kind support, have a good day.
