Old Style Daily Monday 2nd August 2021

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about
everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great,
inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old
Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already.
Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check
the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style
natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning! Sleep is becoming ever more elusive, although nana naps seem not to be...Wales was productive, a lot of stuff went out including one item that went to a stone mason who will use it regularly and will be useful. A lot more stuff to go out but I'm slowly bringing my sister round to getting a clearance firm in for the garage. I can't hump doors around any more. Cleaning the house and going to the tip a few times was enough to finish me for a few days. Going back again in a couple of weeks time for more stuff to be picked up by a charity and organise the keeping of items from the garage and then the disposition of them.I missed my garden while I was away and it looks pretty at the moment, all the geraniums are brightening up the place and not many pots of things waiting to be planted out left. I put six in the ground yesterday along with digging up the potatoes. Got a really good haul so I've made potato salad to start with. Need to find a potato sack somewhere. So today is shift strawberries and plant the runners, blood test no.1, empty all dvd's and put the discs in a wallet.Maddie, my condolences. csarina, also to you and your son. Gers, continued good work, and yes, being confronted with no caring responsibilities can leave you adrift for a little bit. TA, your chicken and cauli cheese sounded delicious. Ruby, hope you feel better. SNoozer, hope you're feeling a bit more with it too. I hope you all feel good today, or at least not bad...And yes it is feeling chilier in general...I won't be saying that if the heatwave returns...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi15

Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Light cloud, some dampness on the ground and some laying water after the heavy rain during Saturday night - forecast is for a dry day today - we'll see.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge. DS2 settled and happy.
Lunch yesterday was roast pork, not the best joint, DH moaned I ignored, and let him get o with it. Salad for dinner tonight.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning, thanks for starting Taff. It's grey and cool here, like yesterday, it was distinctly chilly.I went to the shops yesterday, and tidied up a bit, that was all really.DH is tidying the loft, he keeps bringing boxes down. Yesterday it was boxes of childrens' books - I'll ask the family if they want any to remind them of their childhoods (!). Some of them are well used, it made me feel a bit sad really, remembering how I used to read to the children. However, we can't keep everything.Today will probably be more of the same, I dread to think what he'll bring down next, I don't go in the loft much, occasionally I pop my head through the hatch. Time was when if we didn't know what to do with something, it was "put it in the loft". Those days are gone, now we are clearing, not storing!I'm tired already, have had a bad night, not unusual for me, but I'll perk up a bit later. The bathroom needs cleaning, and I should put a wash on.Hope everyone has a good day anyway, thoughts to the poorly people and those struggling with life - take care folks14

Morning folks and thanks for the early start TAFF. After cloud cover most of the day, yesterday turned out lovely at tea time. Where's this weather hiding earlier in the day! Today a mix of cloud and snippets of sunshine is forecast. I want wall to wall sun and blue sky back!
Yet again another day of not much is ahead. There are jobs I should be doing but I am spending far too much time watching the Games instead! Leftovers to warm up today so not much cooking to be done,
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all our poorlies, poorly loved ones, worried or woeful. Take care one and all and be safe x

Morning all.
Thanks for the thread Taff and hugs to all those in need.
We moved again yesterday as the bank was so steep and slippery, it's a bit much moving 2 days on the trot so we may stay here for a few days. Once we'd moored up I cooked a roast dinner for us and our friends, We often have a BBQ together and although we take it in turns to provide the food they do all the work as they have a BBQ and we don't. So yesterday I cooked stuffed breast of lamb, a couple of chicken breasts, roasties, Yorkshire pudding, carrots, courgette, peas, cabbage, broccoli/cauli cheese and rice pudding.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs qChin up, Titus out.13 -
Morning folks.WB Taff, just take things easy!
Scarlet - it's funny how some things trigger a flood of memories. I'm being overwhelmed by them but really can't keep everything. A weird one happened the other day when I drove past a post box in town - when DM was visiting we were driving past it and she asked me to stop to post her cards. When I got back in the car she asked me 'what did the post box say?' I suppose she meant about collection times - I told her 'thank you for your custom, please call again'. Well, she roared with laughter, something I'd not heard before or since 😂 I can still hear it every time I drive past it now.Yesterday I did a bit of decluttering here though haven't made much of a dent in the pile on the spare bed. I put some DVDs on FB so they are being collected this morning but they're not part of the pile.I spent a long time loading up DMs paintings onto my cloud storage and into different folders. Then I wrote an email to friends and family with the shared link offering them to select any they wanted. I didn't expect many replies but I was wrong. 😱 One person wrote back in five minutes and very soon I had had nine requests. That meant I had to make a list, insert a wee photo of each painting and then delete it from the site. I was / am truly astounded by the response ❤️ mind you, I now have to get packing materials together! Another duck to add to the row! This morning the gardener is coming back to tackle more of the jungle whilst I may do more upstairs.Meanwhile, hugs and thoughts to our poorlies, the sad and the missing. Happy Monday to all.14 -
Morning All
Clear blue skies and sunshine this morning, bedding in the WM with a towel wash to go on after I've been swimming - it's the pool today, didn't get up early enough to go in the Loch!
Great news that the paintings will have new homes Gers. Must be lovely to see the garden coming back to life.
Sounds like a tough weekend for you taff, you deserve a rest.
I don't know how you do all that moving HH although it must be lovely to see so many new places.
TA - I too am spending far too long watching the Olympics, I quite like the shorter snippets we are getting.
Yesterday turned into a lovely sunny day, cut the hedge at the front and the grass at the back so it's all looking tidy again. Maddie - when I met the hedgehog it was 6.30 in the evening, not sure why it was out but it didn't look particularly thin or poorly, just hope it's now safe.
Must visit the allotment today to see what needs picking, there's a growing bag of peas in the freezer and the kale will have sprouted again, not sure I can freeze that but at least I'm eating my greens!
Thinking of the poorlies and those missing from here. Happy Monday, take care. XX12 -
Morning, hugs if you need one.
Today got off to a bad start, expecting a workman to see to the wall in the bedroom, phone call, he had phoned in sick, but another chap is coming this afternoon, will do the wall and the two windows I cannot open.
Good result Gers on the pictures.......
It was so cold here yesterday, I spent the evening under a fleece blanket and put the electric blanket on when I went to bed. It is supposed to be warmer today, the sun is making an effort to shine.
Huge load of washing, have the bed linen in, the rest can wait till tomorrow.....cleaner is due so she will help me make the bed. Tomorrow I will have to put the sewing room back,
Library van comes this afternoon, it may be the last of the book deliveries in a bag, think the van may well be back to normal next month.
Ni idea whats for supper, will do a freezer dive, or might do egg and chips.10 -
Morning all The sun is shinning and DH and DS have gone to work . Yesterday DH and I went to the V&A it was quite quiet there with not many tourists so we were able to move about freely we then stopped and had lunch and a few drinks whilst people watching in Kensington a nice chilled Sunday
Maddie Thinking of you and your family
Gers its funny how inane objects invoke memories I often find myself talking to the dog on our walks about things that happened in my childhood as we pass something that prods at a memory
Taff A very good idea to get a house clearance company in let someone else do the heavy work and then its done
Right hugs to all our poorlies those caring for them and those who have just had enough . Have a good day whatever you are up to xSlava Ukraini10 -
Hello all, apologies for my absence but RL keeps getting in the way lately 😁Over the weekend we have been to DD's for a take away meal, courtesy of Dad, then yesterday I went with DD to watch DGD horse riding and she had a bronze medal for the team relay game. I've never seen her so keen to do anything before but it seems riding is her forte. While we we out DGS kept Mr Fix It company and when we returned everyone stayed for an impromptu tea. In between enjoying myself and gadding about I have been dusting, cleaning, changing the bed etc and now the washing is out on the line, plus yesterday's bedding. It's going to be overcast but breezy, so fingers crossed it will dry.Today I have a sm delivery this morning and I also have to find some craft things to give to DD, some Wasi tape and large pieces of card. I may have a nana nap later too as I was up before 5am with a headache.Tomorrow we are playing host to DGD as it's her turn to come for a sleepover and we are going to watch "Riverdance". Baking has been requested so we'll make some cupcakes or peanut butter biscuits, or both. She will stay most of Wednesday too while her brother goes for a water sports day at the local reservoir, apparently he has to wear a wetsuit which will be a new experience for him. Hope he can get on with it, I personally couldn't think of anything worse, too claustrophobic for me.Hugs to everyoneTake care allnan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently10
