Cooking silverside beef joint in slow cooker?

Options
I've had a 1.2kg joint of silverside beef in the freezer for a while now and planning to use it when family visit next week for a roast.  It's not something I normally buy due to the price (it was marked up as almost £13, but I paid £2.50 with a yellow sticker) so not sure how to cook it.

I don't fancy putting the oven on for hours, so wondering if anyone has cooked one of these in a slow cooker?  How would I stop it from drying out as it isn't a fatty cut, so the normal self-basting probably won't happen?

I've done it, on a bed of carrots / onions with water about quarter way up. Bay leaf if fancied

Just seems to make it's own liquid plus whatever comes out of the veg

I'd second cooking it on a bed of vegetables with a little of water.  The veg should break down nicely and would be good to make a gravy from.

Yep definitely low and slow then rested wrapped in foil so it has a think and carves well.
For me it's a bed of onion, carrot, celery, a couple of bay leaves and garlic cloves ,a good grind of salt & pepper and a decent splash of red wine or vermouth (maybe 50ml). Two hours on high then 4-5 on low, let it rest, strain the juices and make some wonderful gravy. Hope your family enjoy  :)
