Are Plum allowed to take my money without my explicit consent?
I set up a Plum account as I was thinking of setting up an ISA with them, but I then changed my mind so I did not take any further action. At no point did I authorise any specific amount to be taken from my bank account. This morning I noticed that Plum has taken £4.46 from my bank, so I logged in to their app and there is…

Investing 400k for income
I will resist the line 'asking for a friend' but I genuinely am... I am looking into how to invest 400k to generate a regular/secure-ish income from the stock market after a BTL exit so similar to replacing the rental income. The home of the money (and tax) are not really relevant (isa/pension/etc) so I am finding out…

Zopa savings interest
I have noticed that I received less interest on my monthly smart saver for May than I did for April This is despite having made more deposits and of course the compound interest on April's interest payment Zopa tried to explain this with days in one month longer than the other but as I say more deposits and compound…

The Top Fixed Interest Savings Discussion Area
I'm interested in people's thoughts and recommendations for the best fixed interest accounts. With BOE interests rates recently starting to increase we have to consider the desirability of long term fixed interest savings. Since withdrawals are usually not permitted before the end of the fixed period, such general interest…

I Have Given up on Cynergy
A while back I opened an other Cynergy savings account that was paying just over 5% so that I could transfer my Santander account cash to it. I had one last year which I had closed and transferred the money to Santander. At the time I spent over 45 minutes on the phone with customer support trying to access the account…

ISA/ Savings drip feed/ plan help?
Hi all, I have the majority of my savings in a Chase account earning 4.1% and the rest in an ISA earning 5.1%. I haven't used any of my ISA allowance for 2024/25. I was wondering how you suggest movement of funds to avoid hitting the PSA? I can't max out the ISA straight away as use funds from the Chase savings account for…

Beginner wanting to invest responsibly
Hello, thanks for reading. Long story short, my friend set up a Sipp fund for me on hargreaves lansdown about 10 years ago. It grew to nearly 3k without me ever putting anything in it. He put £50 in it to start it off. But the fund closed and now the money is just sitting there for me to reinvest. I'm v new to this and my…

Halifax Reward Bonus Saver still paying 4.2% AER
Just noticed my Halifax Reward Bonus Saver account, which I opened well over a year ago, is still paying 4.20% AER. I thought the rate was supposed to drop after the first year? I'm just curious really because I would keep the account regardless as I only keep it to qualify for the monthly prize draw, but it's suddenly…

RCI bank not in MSE 2 year accounts
The RCI bank 2 year fixed savings account at 5.05% is not in the MSE top accounts list. Does anyone know if there is a reason for this. Also I note that there a quite a few threads from a few years ago where people were dissatisfied with the account opening procedures and communication. Is there anyone who has opened an…

VOTE now! Proposed take over of Virgin Money - Nationwide members should be given a vote
I'm really unhappy about Nationwide management running roughshod over their members (we the customers own the building society as it's a mutual), trying to push through a deal to buy Virgin Money. My quick take: * Nationwide management have proposed a takeover of Virgin Money * Terms of the deal have been agreed, but it is…

What ISA 100% risk would you buy today?
I know the clever way to buy a year's worth of 100% equity-type ISA, or at least 100% high risk S&S ISA is to spread the £20k payment 12 or 52 or 250 times over a year but I just tend to plop the full amount in when the money is there, fire and forget style. I'm afraid that's how I roll. People to see, things to do, etc.…

Notice Accounts
I can't see any dedicated thread for Notice Accounts, so here we go.
