Stansted Airport NSL PCN - Is the PoFA 2012 "not relevant land" defence still vaild?
Apologies if this has already been answered elsewhere, but I'm concerned that there may have been some sort of precedent case recently that I'm not aware of.Reason being that the wording of the Notice to Keeper I have received is different to one I've seen images of on a previous posting on this forum (Nov '23), for what…

Principality online banking
Principality's 2FA text messages didn't seem to be arriving, or perhaps not being sent (this seems to happen from time to time, but trying a few minutes later usually resolves it), but no luck with it this time, and now their online banking site seems to be "offline for maintenance". Has we all in effect knocked their…

A SIPP to reduce tax on redundancy payment?
I may be made redundant from my NHS ICB job, probably in the next tax year. My statement from HR quotes a payment of £89000. I have a second income from 2 rental properties, around £18000 pa. I am 59 yo and could take a slightly actuarially reduced pension ( NHS 1995 pension)- or wait till I hit 60 in Dec 2026. Would be…

Super Duolingo codes
I noticed today the Lidl Plus app have a code for free month of Super Duolingo. I planned to activate it for my eldest daughter as she’s actively learning 2 languages, but accidentally applied it to my other daughter’s account which she’s less interested in. My eldest is a bit gutted, but I can’t find any other codes for…

New Plug-in Battery, no electrician required
Just stumbled across this. Pre-order £699 for a 2kWh battery. sounds interesting, capacity a bit small, but might suit someone - certainly I'd think a shed with solar on top might benefit for outdoor supply to the garden. https://www.nodienergy.com/

Do I have to declare an accident in my Van on my new Cars Policy
Hi, I had an accident in my van, and I lost 1 year of NCD. It was a minor bump to the other car, but it still cost £6K!!! I am about to re-insure my Van and my car. I will be switching to a new insurer for my car, and I was wondering if I need to tell them I was in an accident in the Van. Even though it has nothing to do…

Wooden Flooring
Hi, I’m looking for some recommendations, we moved into our house nearly 2 years ago and my dogs have wrecked the lounge carpet. Light grey and cheap, now with a brown tint from the mud the dogs have brought in. I am looking at replacing it with some form of wooden flooring, it needs to be decent quality and deal with dogs…

I'm thinking of asking for a water meter with Anglian Water as it's just myself in the home but I've got a feeling they won't be able to install one as I think we're all on shared a supply on our street with each pair of semis sharing the same mains. Also there's not sufficient access where the stopcock is to place an…

Pension Buy Out timeline
I’ve just been told that one of my deferred DB pensions is being wound up with a full buy out. This doesn’t seem to be particularly bad news. However, the timeline has the handover to the insurance company happening around the same time as my 60th birthday when the pension comes into payment. Should I be worried about…

I'm paying how much interest a year??!!
Starting this to keep myself honest and on track. This is the year, well the first one of a few. I've always had the annual mortgage statement come in and put it away, little to no attention paid to it but not this time. If this was a credit card with this much interest per month I would be putting every spare penny…

NST January 2026: Shake and Vac https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4q8inM0gKVo Anyone else remember this advert? An ad where women live alone,

My daughter who's in her mid twenties has been looking for some time to buy her first home in the north of England. We've viewed many properties together and missed out on a few due to higher offers (some going above asking). She's just had an offer accepted of £220000 on a smart little semi in a decent area which she…

Declined by nationwide?
My partner and I have used a mortgage broker to apply for a mortgage, we had a decision in principle given to us by nationwide which covered the value of the property. We are first time buyers and have made an offer of 343,500 on a house with a 95% LTV ratio which means we are giving a £17,175 deposit. Our Experian credit…
