Another UKCPS No stopping charge at Leeds station - they even missed the 14 day PofA timescales

Evening all,

Another victim of a UKCPS No stopping charge at Leeds station here.  I've submitted my appeal, which felt strong given that the notice landed outside of the PofA timescales.  Timeline copied from my appeal below:

The alleged event occurred on 27 August 2025.

The NTK was dated 9 September 2025 (day 13).

The Claimant states the notice is “deemed served” on 11 September 2025 (day 15).

The NTK was actually received on 12 September 2025 (day 16).

A fairly generic rejection letter was received, including the line "while you have stated that you were not the driver at the time of the event and that you do not intend to disclose the driver’s details, please note that if we do not know both the name and current address of the driver, we may
recover the outstanding balance from you, the Registered Keeper, on the assumption
that you were the driver."

I can't imagine that an assumption as to who was driving would stand up well in court.

I have to say I didn't give the appeal rejection much attention after I initially read it when it landed on the 2nd of October, as we're renovating our house.

What are the best next steps here, as I've now missed the IAS deadline, which, from what I've read, is a sham anyway?

Ignore and forget, or should I take another approach?

Thanks in advance, all,

Ben

Ignore until/unless you receive a Letter Of/Before Claim from the PPC's solicitors, or a County Court Claim via the Northampton CNBC, come back to this thread for further advice. To get ahead of the curve, you could prepare yourself with a bit of gentle reading of the NEWBIES FAQ Announcement, second post, and the Template Defence Announcement, both situated near the top of the forum thread list.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Evening all. I've had the steady chasers from Trace on UKCPS' behalf which then moved onto Moorside Legal. They've moved a little more quickly and I've received and today I've received a Letter Before Claim pushing for the £170.

I've read the newbies post again and it suggests that I now respond with a firm but generic response. The newbies thread does say not to reply via post, I assume I need to find an active email for Moorside and send a version of this?

Should I make amends to the template to suit my case?

    Thanks in advance.

Is it a debt collector letter from Moorside ? Or does it give you 30 days notice. ?

Hi bud. This is the wording. 30 days notice.

    Letter Before Claim

Our client has instructed us to collect the outstanding balance on their behalf. We are a law firm authorised and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority.

You owe €170.00 for an unpaid invoice.

We're here to help you resolve this matter quickly and easily, and avoid court action. Full details of your case can be found at portal.moorsidelegal.co.uk. Should we receive further instructions from our client before a claim is issued, these will be added to the outstanding debt and updated on the portal.

    What you can do

Most people choose to pay straight away to avoid extra costs and court action.

What happens if you don't act

If you choose not to reply within 30 days we will issue a County Court Claim which adds interest, court fees and legal costs.

If a County Court Judgment is awarded it can seriously affect your credit score.

We issue claims where we believe we will win. But we'd much rather help you settle this now.

Is that the short debt collector letter seen on other Moorside threads? Not the real one that is headed Letter of Claim.

Hi both. How is best to respond to this? Interestingly, I got a very polite text this morning:

Hi, it's Moorside Legal.  Pay £170.00 today to avoid extra fees.  Most pay on time - please do the same.  Pay now easily here: https://pay.moorside.legal

This feels like further pressure tactics.

Read other threads about their short LBC. If you read my last reply I already mentioned what to wait for.

Read a few threads as this is nothing new.

Thank you Sir. I’d read this as the formal LoC but having now been back over some Moorside threads, it’s clear that this is more scare tactics. I did wonder when the back side of the letter is full of “Ways to pay”.

    I’ll sit tight. Thanks again.
