Ebay selling newbie question: when to leave feedback

Hi all
Apologies for the basic question but am new (and a bit nervous) in this selling marlarkey
I've just sold my first two items - both paid instantly through PayPal last night and I dispatched today.
Is the etiquette for sellers to leave feedback at this stage ie re: prompt payment or should I sit tight to see if any problems emerge? I don't want to p!ss off my first buyers if immediate feedback is expected, equally I don't want to tempt fate
Sorry if this is a stupid question  - just some advice would be welcome
Thanks
ML

I usually wait to hear from them. If they don't get back with feedback or a problem in a week from my posting the item I give feedback and highlight any positives like speedy payment. This often works as a reminder to leave feedback for me.:D
When you first get into selling it's easy to think all buyers spend as much time haunting Ebay as we doMany, once they have received their item forget all about Ebay til they want something else. I've had very positive feedback a few weeks after purchase, phrased as though no time had passed at all
When buying I give feedback as soon as I am satisfied that the item is what I bid for. Be done by as you did school of thought on that one0 -
Hi mountainlioness,
Love the name by the way:T
I always leave my feedback for my buyers as soon as I have dispatched the item, as I go in and click the item dispatched button and leave feedback at the same time. I always have and don't worry if the buyer doesn't leave me any (thankfully I've not had any negs) - I feel I have completed my side of the sale then, the rest is up to them.
Each to their own though and I am sure you will get lots of other replies saying something different.

I forsee a row..this question evokes a lot of different opinions in different people so be prepared.
However, the thing to remember is that feedback is voluntary and ebay say it should be left once the transaction is complete and that rather suggests when buyer has received their item and is content.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I now leave feedback as soon as I have posted the item ' Instant payment - item dispatched - Thank you'. No point waiting and don't contact them for return feedback.0

Thanks numberthreeI often wonder what makes ppl choose their names - you only have to spend a few mins on here to discover some real classics...
And thanks all for your views and experiences... Maybe I'll do something in the middle like wait for the items to be tracked to delivery then leave it... haven't decided yet but can see there are wide differences of opinion!MFW Challenge member no. 96 - on hold!

If you are using recorded then please remember to factor in the high percentage of items never tracked to delivery. I have a pile here (not ebay items) waiting to go in for a claim to RM as items received but still showing as undelivered.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I leave feedback as soon as I have got the cash!!
Don't worry about getting any back from the buyer, if you do that's great!0 -
Leave in bulk at the end of the month to those who have left it for me.
Unless they're particularly fantastic when they might get it a bit sooner.0 -
As your options are to leave positive or not leave any, the sooner you leave positive, the more likely the buyer is to give you a good positive back. There really are some strange people out there and now that they're unrestrained by the threat of a retaliatory neg, you get things like this:
