Fixed charge
I pay both Thames water for fresh water and Anglia Water for waste. The fix charge for Thames is £78.88. The fix charge for Angela is £427.45. Are they over charging me on the fix rate I do not have a water meter as the mains not only supplies my house but 3 others. Is it worth being metered????

A SEMI WITH 2 ADULTS
ST list a semi detached with NO water meter and 2 adults as £442.51 per year - my bill is £627.51 per year for 2 adults in a semi. I have asked the company why and of course no reply . Is this reasonable and what are others paying please? We are not heavy users of water. Thank you

Thames water - email re very high usage!
Morning all. Awoke this morning to an email from Thames Water warning my that my upcoming biannual bill would be higher than usual due to unusually high usage over the last six months. Naturally this was concerning, and also unexpected as there has been no noticeable change in pattern of water usage which would explain…

Water company increased bill after enquiry
Hi all, I'm wondering if this normal. I received a bill from Yorkshire water (where the average bill is £602) saying that my bill has increased from £760 per year to £980. I don't have a water meter. I rang up to enquire about this as I was aware that I was already paying £100-200 more than most people in my area. They…

Notice of water bill price rise - breach of regulations?
Hi, I've today (26/3/25) received notice of a 56% water sewerage price rise from Southern Water wef. 1st April 2025 (letter dated 20/3/25) - surely this is insufficient notice of a price rise and a breach of OFWAT regulations?

Water rates not charged for 4 years
I have a business and have been paying my direct debit as billed monthly since December 2021. I have only had 3 actual reads in that time. This January (2025) the meter was read and the meter reader told me that my smart (?) meter reading part of my meter was broken and had not been sending updated readings since December…

Southern Water 52% price increase for Waste Water only?
This is more of a rant
or vent than anything else but I would welcome comments. We live in a four
bedroom house near Chichester in West Sussex. Portsmouth Water supply
our water and Southern Water take away waste water. We are not on a water
meter. Portsmouth Water latest bill is a very reasonable £130 for
July 2024 to…

01/04/2025 readings for price increases.
My dad is on a Affinity/Thames water meter. I sent an email on his behalf asking if any readings will be taken by Affinity on 1/04/2025 due to the new water charge increases and the reply was that Affinity will not be doing any readings. My dad's bills are 6 monthly and the last bill was November so if Affinity take a…

Southern Water Direct Debit set up without authorisation
I have just discovered Southern Water set up a direct debit on my account in November 2024 without my authorisation and no correspondence was received to confirm this. Up until this date I had always paid my Southern Water account manually online every six months and never missed a payment. Bearing in mind I was one of…

Water bill is 57% higher
My water bill has increased by 57% this year and South West Water say there's nothing they can do about it. The government have stopped the GC50 support which was given to customers, and it was worth £50 a year. I'm unable to have a water meter fitted and so I have to be assessed according to the rateable value of my…

Water Bill Doubled Suddenly – Anyone Experienced This?
Hi everyone, Just wondering if anyone else has had a sudden jump in their water bill? I live in a 2-bed flat with just myself and my partner. We’re usually pretty conscious with water usage – short showers, full loads in the washing machine, no garden hose, etc. But this month’s bill is almost double what we usually pay,…

High Rateable Value
I really need some advice and I'm not sure where to turn. Myself and husband live in a 3 bedroom, mid terraced 3 bedroom house, council tax band A. Our water bill is around £72 per month - paid over 8 months. Having spoken to friends and neighbours, their water bills are £45 per month over the same period - none of them…

Anglian Water Bill 2025
Trying to see if there is anyway of checking if a water bill is correct? With Anglian Water no meter, standard 3 bed house and our bill has increased to £949.34 this year which seems a huge leap! We have a fixed charge now on bill at £886.40. Charge for water £34.63 & Waste water £28.31. Cannot find a tool to check just…

Excessive Water Bill
They recently doubled our water bill from £120 to £240 a month, they didn't inform us and when I phoned they told me it's correct. We are with Thames Water and have a water meter, but the cost is so high when we live in a 3-bed house, there are 3 of us in the property and no one is home all day. I have asked them to come…

Fixed charge
Can anyone explain why the fixed rate is different for metered and unmetered supply? Surely the billing, maintenance etc that it's supposedly for is the same, regardless. In fact, unmetered should be cheaper as they don't have to bother to read a meter! I get that meter users are then charged for useage and un metered are…

Water supply leak under my premises
Hoping someone on here as had a similar experience and/or can advise me on the best route of action to take. Basically I have a leak under my business premises which is flooding my workshop. I have been in touch with Yorkshire water and they have been to investigate and told me that it is a supply pipe running under my…

Severn Trent's flawed business model
Just had my bill for 2025 which is a 29% increase from last year, and by the way is a 97% increase since 2016. They now have a cute little "what makes up your bill" explanation as to where your money goes. Well 11% goes on interest charges relating to borrowing (what decent company pays 11% to borrow money!) and 12% goes…

United Utilities - number of people in property
Like many, im looking at getting a water meter but I logged on to United Utilities to check various things. My bill is going up to just over £1200 per year for a 3 bed house, I know its going up but this seems a lot. On the UU web site there is a section that says Update Your Details and I noticed that it was pre-filled…
