Water mains leak - junction installed by neighbour
Our water supply is for four houses. Severn Trent have written to us and said there is a leak which we need to address. A leak can be heard in my back garden but it isn't clear exactly whereabouts. It could be my lead pipes or it could be the new junction installed by my neighbours builders when they built an extension. Either way it makes sense to replace my lead piping and at the same time create a separate connection to the mains. However, if when we come to disconnect the supply that leak was from their junction all along it will mean that I will be paying to rectify this even though its not quite on my property (although my neighbours say its not clear whose it is). I feel its fair that when this part of the work is done, if there is a leak at this location that my neighbours should contribute. However I am not sure how best to go about this. Anyone had anything similar?

How much will it cost, how much do you think they should contribute and how well do you get on with your neighbour
