Reduced water meter bills for AA.
Hello
My FIL has Parkinson's and was diagnosed last year.
He now has Attendance Allowance at higher rate and he has incontinence and needs more baths and showers and also using the washing machine more.
A neighbour mentioned that water firms do a reduced tariff for people on benefits and to contact them.
He called Affinity on Monday and asked and was told that he has to have income under £22,000 and be on benefits to able to get this.
His income is over that threshold so has he been misinformed or are Affinity correct?

does income included his AA? Often it is excluded as income but not always so try and find the water provider's policy on this

Not included.
He only got awarded it last week.
Affinity website says income under £22,000 or benefits to be able to claim reduced tariff.
I will try and look again to be more sure.

Found this on Affinity's website which states
Apply for a reduced bill
We’re able to support eligible customers with a reduced clean water bill. Our low-income fixed tariff (LIFT)
is available to customers whose household income is less than £18,725 a year, or who are currently claiming certain benefits; such as Universal Credit, Pension Credit or Job Seeker’s Allowance.but it's worth mentioning that Attendance Allowance helps with extra costs if you have a disability or health condition severe enough that you need someone to help look after you.

Being paid AA doesn't typically give you a discount, at least it doesn't in my local water area. But things seem to be changing

Thanks for this.
I think that it was my neighbour was on about.
My FIL water usage has gone up a lot since the start of the year and with the higher water unit prices going up in April his his monthly cost will be about £53 pm .
