Thoughts on this poor hotel booking practice?
When booking a room you can often book with no deposit and free cancellation, or pay up front to book with no cancellation fee. Even if you fully commit to pay up front with no cancellation, hotels STILL won't reserve you a specific room. This is obviously so they can switch rooms last minute as best suits, and late coming…

Mystery hotels at cheap prices in UK?
I used to use Expedia's Super saver hotel where you only found out the name of the hotel once you'd booked but get a much better price. I saved lots of money that way and managed to stay in some really nice hotels as a result. They seem to have stopped this now but I wonder if there are any other websites that do this in…

Jetstream boat trips Medway/Southend
Booked on a boat trip with Jetstream tours in the Medway/Southend area. They cancelled due to weather, fair enough. But what is not fair enough is that they will not refund the family ticket, they will only offer to rebook. The trip runs once a week, so for those on holiday for a week a rebook isnt possible this stay, and…

Legal action threatened vis problems with a UK holiday (that I bought as a gift for a family member)
Looking for advice as to how others would approach this. I booked a stay at a glamping site as a gift for my daughter and her partner. This was clear on booking via 3rd party 'pitchup', and in comms with the site owner. They checked in ad the stay was apparently going OK until the bed buckled and (there's no other way to…

Visitor Oyster Card for family
Our large family group is visiting London on Monday for one week, staying in Acton. We will have a car, but assume that public transport will be the best way to get around to see the sights.
