My girlfriend is form Malaysia and has lived in England for 13 years.  She been waiting over 3 months for her visa.  I've told her to start chasing it

We want to go to Edinburgh for few days with friends. 

Do we need her visa just to go Edinburgh.  She has valid passport

Scotland is part of the UK same as England. No visa/travel documents needed - unless you’re flying then it’s the usual photo ID or whatever the airline asks for just as a precaution.

You won’t be crossing an Immigration border to go to Scotland fromEngland . It’s part of the Common Travel Area CTA - So no Immigration checks . 

( A Malaysian National does need a visa to be legally residing in U.K. in the first place ) If your girlfriend’s previous visa has expired she does need to get her stay in U.K. legalised with the correct visa asap. 12 weeks from submitting biometrics is generally the max waiting time for a residency visa so likely  she will get a decision soon . 

To answer your question; you don’t need a separate visa to visit Scotland from England .
