Best cheap date you ever went on?

I'd love to hear your cheap date stories.
Ever taken a handsome somebody out for a restaurant meal and lowered the cost with coupons? Or had a date where you walked the dog, rode the bus, visited a museum or had a picnic comprised of yellow sticker bargains?
Or perhaps something a little more imaginative?
Thanks in advance,
MSE Laura F

Many years ago we found some lovely person had posted on this site an offer for what looked like 2 for one entry for selected national trust properties for that weekend. We had only been together about 6 weeks and it was the first Saturday I had off since we had got together. We both applied and printed off our vouchers thinking we would get 2 for 1 on both Saturday and Sunday at different locations - a win win situation! The t&c's on the vouchers suggested admit 1 and said nothing about about a 2 for 1. Coming back to this site loads of others had noticed the error and were going to challenge it when they arrived at properties. We arrived at property 1 and waved both vouchers and asked what the deal was, we were told as we had 2 vouchers we could both enter for free due to an error on the voucher. We were well happy as we didn't have much spare cash and were trying for a cheap weekend. The vouchers were very generic and had no names or reference numbers on them so we got home and reprinted the vouchers and got in free to the 2nd property on Sunday. It was magical as both places we wanted to go to. my partner had always wanted to go to one and the other I wanted to go to, my partner's family weren't really into days out and my family always said the NT house I wanted to go to was too expensive. 2 for 1 would have been good but free was an unexpected bonus.
This was about 11 years ago and we have been married nearly 7, as hubby raved about the national trust offer and his large workplace got enough in the whip round to give us a voucher for national trust membership and flowers.Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. BBQ on the beach, using stones / rocks to build it. Bits of wood found on the beach, with food and water from home cooked / boiled on it. All carefully put out and dismantled before going home.
Done it loads of times, various beaches and it never gets boring.

Many moons ago I did music writing on the side, and wanted to impress a girl I'd met at a party, so got us on the guest list for a very exclusive gig in exchange for writing a review. We met in the pub beforehand and got on rather well. So well in fact that we never made it to the gig. Still filed a review the next day though - amazing performance, apparently...2

1st date...I got Freebus to Sainsbury's & met my date in their coffee shop. Logic behind it was that it was a safe & sensible daytime place to meet & if it went good or bad or a no show I could still get my shopping & come home for no cost on the Freebus.
I came back a very happy shopper.

Now hubby took me on our first date 21 years ago to Belvoir Castle. We walked around the Gardens which were free back then and had a picnic in the grounds. A flask of coffee and ham and cheese sarnies. It was October and was a lovely day.2

I've had many dates and also a marriage that failed after 22 years.
Of course, there may be one in my future and I don't know if it's a good thing or not but I've never had a cheap date. I can't be in the minority? Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts.
