Transfer to II - How Long?
I know this will vary depending on volume and possibly individual fund and certainly on the sending platform but would anyone have any recent experience of transferring an ISA or GIA to II please? In my case it would be from IWEB/Scottish Widdows.

Good savings account that does not include ATM card
I have a gambling addiction and am looking to put my savings in an account that does allow cash withdrawals from an ATM. Have spoken to chase earlier and they can't put restrictions on my debit card so can easily obtain £500 per day which I have done recently. Any help would be much appreciated. TIA.

Are Cahoot Simple Savers closeable at weekends?
Ideally, I'd like to close my Cahoot Simple Saver account on April 5th and get the interest for it then, and then use the money to open an account with a different provider, who pay interest on the account anniversary, on the 6th April - pushing the future interest into the 27-28 tax year. But … April 5th is Easter Sunday.…

Cynergy Online Easy access Account 4.22%

Investing for retirement
Thank you for all the replies to my previous posts so far and had helped me to reach this stage. But I am still nervous about investing and it’s finally time to invest. (I had used an IFA for a long time.) With 12 years till SP age which will give me a little more to spend. I have an old work pension worth about £100,000…

Capital Gain Losses Claim from previous years how to proceed now?
Hello All, A year ago, and following HRMC rules, i sent them a letter to claim for some losses materialised on the 2020/2021 tax year. As I didnt filled a tax return that year (didnt need to), the option left was to send them a letter with the deatils and calculations for the year. I did all of this, and sent the letter to…

Capital Gains: Losses and time limit?
Hello All, As the financial year is approaching, I have been doing some calculations. Currently, I have some capital gains for this year over the personal allowance of £3000 due to shares sold through the year. In order to go under this threashold for the year, and avoid (delay) paying taxes, I was thinking about selling…

Script DIvidend and tax treatment
Hello All, I own some share sin a company, not UK based, which issued some shares as a dividend. This "dividend" was paid as shares, and you had the choice of either keeping thiese share rights, or selling them to get the dividend. I chose to keep the share rights, so I got a few shares extra added to my current position…

What Lessons Learned?
We are now two weeks into the latest bout of markets upheaval and doubtless some are fretting. We recently had a lengthy discussion about the merits of selling USA and buying Asia/EM plus separate discussions about derisking portfolio's because of a potentially overvalued Tech Sector. Within the context of those topics,…

HMRC Attitude Towards Taxing of Fixed Term Savings Accounts
My wife and I were under the impression that if one was to opt for a fixed term savings account where you opt to have interest paid at maturity then interest earned would from this account only be considered as income in the tax year when maturity occurs. We understand that savings providers have a duty to report to HMRC…

Edge Saver Problems?

Do other people have the same problem? I can see the account in my account list, and I can see the transactions. But then go to pay &…

YBS and withdrawal days
Hi Just mentioning in case anyone else thought the same as i had. When YBS mention withdrawal days I took it to mean it was just one withdrawal allowed on each withdrawal day for the particular account. However when in the branch the other day I was informed that in fact if you can make 2 or more withdrawals on the same…

General Discussion and Whimsical Banter
It was only a matter of time. Personally I've never minded the off-topic comments in the main threads to discuss top easy access and regular savings accounts, but I can see it's becoming a greater problem given that there just isn't a whole lot going on in the top end of the savings accounts market right now and possibly…

What does renew account mean?
Hi I've made too many withdrawals on my Club Lloyds Advantage Saver account and the rate's gone down. Rather than open another one, transfer the money to the new account and then close the old account, can I just 'renew' it to get the standard rate back? Is renew the same as close and open? Thanks.

Introductory rate ISA vs long term rate
Hi, I need to put aside a few grand, and think an ISA is probably the best way. I am looking for interest rates of >4%. Would there be any reason not to go for some of the 1-year introductory deals of c.4.5%, and go for a product with a slightly lower variable long term rate of 4.3% (e.g. Hargreaves Lansdown)? Are there…

Tax and Personal Savings Allowance
I currently have a private pension of approx £12000 per year, plus savings in normal instant access accounts earning interest of approx £575 per year. My personal tax allowance has been reduced to £11880 from £12570 due to this untaxed interest. However I thought you could earn £1000 in savings interest on top of the…
