Nationwide e-savings
I recently moved £1k to my Nationwide e-savings account, thinking it would be a higher interest rate. But I have just looked, and e-savings = 1.1% whilst the normal flex account is 2.5%Is this just deliberate to catch people out?In case of fraud etc, you wouldn't keep excessive amounts in your ordinary account

Savings / investment re cash inheritance
Hi all I have inherited a cash sum of around 100K following the death of my father. I am wondering what best to do with this in terms of savings / investments. Seems like it would be prudent to put 20K in a Cash ISA - which ones might be best? And other possibilities which you may have found beneficial? My mum was a big…

Advised to put savings in an isa
My IFA has advised me to put some current savings that are in a bank account into an instant access isa. I tried my starling account but they are only just rolling theirs out and I’m not eligible yet . Trying to keep things simple. What should do now to find a suitable one. Tia

AJ Bell fund deal charges
I'm sure I read over Christmas that AJ Bell are going to remove the £1.50 fund dealing charge in the spring. Now I can't find anything online about it. Has anyone seen anything to that effect? As a regular investor, that would suddenly make AJ Bell much more attractive.

Santander Fixed Term Saver Interest
Fixed Term Saver I opened a 1 Year Fixed Saver with Annual Interest in December. The account paid a small amount of interest on the 1st January this year and will pay the rest on Maturity in January 2027. I'm unsure if this interest paid in January this year falls into this tax year or next tax year with the maturity…

Student loan
I have £3,355 left on my Plan 1 loan and £12,263 left on my Plan 2 loan. The government website claims both loans are at an interest rate of 3.2%, although this seems strange to me as it also states that interest for Plan 2 loans is "3.2%, plus up to 3%" for my pay band (however it does not state what this 'plus up to 3%'…

FTSE100 best single year return since 2009.
21.5% return not including dividends, fuelled mostly by defence, banks and mining companies. I honestly didn't think I'd ever see the FTSE100 perform this well ever again, needless to say this is obviously an outlier year, a one off fluke, but perhaps the FTSE100 might regain some lost ground over the coming years I dunno.

Original Book Cost of SIP Shares After Redundancy
I was in a 'share match' scheme with my company for 20 years before being made redundant on 30/11/25. I was designated a 'good leaver' and all the more recent taxable and locked shares were opened to me as tax free, along with any normal tax free shares sitting in the plan. I decided to transfer all of these shares from…

Santander savings and investment
Hi, I'v been talking to a Santander financial advisor, we are looking at investing over a seven year period with moderate risk. However I'm a bit concerned about the fees involved. If we go ahead it will be £2,000 for putting everything in place then £450 every six months over the course of the investments, which seems a…

How to establish share cost for CGT purposes?
This may appear complex, hence the request for guidance. I acquired some shares in 1999 as part of an acquisition of
part of a company I held shares in (The value of my original holding was
obviously devalued at the time). I am now looking to sell the acquired shares, however, I’m
unsure as to what share price can now be…

Moving away from US Equities
Just curious to what extent you have tilted away from US equities if like me you are concerned with high US valuations. I have recently gone from 60% US to 28% US. I appreciate this will be seen as an extreme reaction by many. The remaining 72% is split between UK, rest of Europe, Japan, Asia Pacific excluding Japan and…

Best savings accounts for pots
I currently have a Zopa account because I have around 10 different pots for different things and it helps me to keep track of my savings. Their interest rate has massively dropped lately when compared to the Chase savings for new current account customers but I can't seem to set up pots with a Chase savings account. Is…

Ulster Bank easy access Saver - 4.5% interest, but is it lost forever if you go under £5k?
Hi there. I recently opened an Ulster Bank regular saver. It offers interest of 4.5% so long as the balance is over £5k. However, I’m not totally clear what happens if the balance drops under £5k. The guidance is not clear to me and when I spoke to someone at Ulster via the app they could not answer the question either!…

Loss of interest on fixed rate saver
I transferred cash into a 2 year deal with Nat west on 22 10 24 and on 29th Oct 26 they messaged to say they had transferred it into a new 2 year deal without any advance notification although I knew it was soon to mature. I wanted to put the savings into an ISA so transferred the money out - I suffered the loss of 3…

Zopa Regular Saver Maturing
I was fortunate enough to grab the (fixed) Zopa Regular Saver last year at 7.50% It' set to mature in early Feb. Now, I see that Zopa are still currently advertising online a (variable) regular saver at 7.10% so I thought it would be just a case picking up another reg saver with them after maturity. However. I could see no…
