Skipton BS: Cash ISA Interest Capitalisation
Skipton BS: Cash ISA Capitalisation I have two cash ISAs with Skipton BS. The first was a 30-month F/R bond opened on 8 April 2024. Interest capitalised on 7April 2025. I had assumed that it would capitalise again tomorrow until I looked at my other Skipton ISA. The second ISA was opened on 7 April 2025 and the interest…

Transferring from GIA to ISA and CGT
Hi, I am preparing to move some money from my GIA to my ISA to make use of my £3,000 CGT allowance. I know that I can take any income for the sold units off the sale price as income tax has already been paid on this (previous years). My problem is that these are Acc units (VLS 40). Obviously there has been income…

Hodge Bank
My tesco fixed rate bond matures next week and the new rate offered is 4.2% for a year. I saw Hodge Bank on the MSE leader board offering 4.42% for a one year bond so I am thinking of moving my money to that rather than re-invest with Tesco Bank. I have read the comments on Hodge Bank previously posted on here but wanted…

CGT and selling demultualisation shares
I gained a small number of shares when Standard Life demultualised, so purchase cost 'nil'. Dividends bought more shares, but my records only go back to 2013. I must now sell. How do i calculate CGT

2026/2027 cash ISA limits
How much can someone under 65 invest this new tax year (April 6 2026 - April 5 2027) in a cash ISA? Does the £12,000 limit for cash ISAs for under 65s y.o. start this tax year or the next? Thought it was this year but now seeing that it could be next year. Many thanks

eToro changing default account to GBP
Just had email in from eToro "We’re updating the default account used when you open or close a position on eToro. Currently, trades are funded from your USD account by default - soon, they’ll use your eToro GBP account instead….." What does this mean for you? No conversion fees when trading GBP-based assets. You will…

Is there a risk with eToro cash ISA?
Hi All, Is there a risk that I could lose my money with eToro cash ISA or will it be protected up to £85k regardless? From my understanding eToro invest the cash ISA money from their subscribers so if what they invest in goes down for whatever reason, I could lose it all or will my cash be protected up to £85k regardless…

True Potential Investments
I have received a random email from True Potential Investments - the address it comes from is: sqlmail@tpllp.com and asks me to log onto TP Investor account. I didn't know I had one!! I don't trust IFAs (after a first poor experience 25 years ago) and AFAIK have had no dealings with them. I've had a quick Google to see if…

Regular saver , what's the point?
I don't understand the point of a savings account that in the end you are going to only gain £25. For instance Principality pays 7.5% in interest, you have to deposit £200 every month for 6 months only ( no withdrawals) to get in the end £1,225.93 , that's an interest earned of £25 at the end of the 6 months . Is it worth…

Top Savings Accounts.............Not ISA's
I have some cash I'd like to put in a savings bank. I have used my ISA allowance for 2026/7 so am looking for the best interest rate I can find. After reading MSE I selected a few banks: Chase, Prosper, Trading 212 and Chetwood - all are easy access. I'm now attempting to open accounts in these banks but find out ALL are…

Too late to fund IWeb/Scottish Widows S&S ISA?
I'll possibly get some flack for this, but I don't have a time machine! Does anyone know if I make a debit card payment to iweb today if it will still go into the 2025-26 tax year? The only thing I can find that says this would work is referring specifically to some kind of 'done for you' SW offering. Appreciate any info…

S&s platforms
Wondering whether to use a cheap one Such as investengine or freetrade Or an established one such as fidelity or vanguard Any advice And can I move from one to another at will if I don't like a platform for any reason? For example I tried chase but found the android app really slow so closed it all down

Whole of market Sipp providers - any differences in what is whole?
Can one assume that all of the usual popular independent DIY platforms offer access to the same universe of investment products, allowed in their sipps or isas? Not UK shares but more exotic products? For example, leveraged etf's, do they all offer the same universe? Non UK shares from across the globe? Could I assume that…

Simplifying into one global equity fund
Over the years, especially with the freedom to invest in more than one ISA provider in a given year, I was often in this experimental mode of using different providers and go for funds that were global equities in general but with some variations on which ones depending on whats available or cost effective on a given…

New rate of tax on interest from April 2027
Hi Apologies if this has been asked before but I couldn't find an answer. As tax on savings interest is charged retrospectively (well it is for me anyway!) when the new tax rates come into effect in April 2027 will they be applied only to interest earned from April 2027 onwards or will the new higher apply to any interest…
