Zopa Regular Savings question
I've just opened a Biscuit account in order to get access to the 7.1% regular saver. On the Zopa app home page I've tapped on "hit your savings goals sooner with up to 7.1%" and then "open an account now". It then prompts me to "start application" but it's talking about Smart Saver. I don't understand how you apply for the…

Buying gold/silver instead of an ISA
Hello I'm wondering if buying gold/silver coins is better than investing in something like an ISA, such as buying sovereigns from the Royal Mint. Does anyone know if this is a better option for long term saving??

My wife was recently dropped as a client by her Financial Planners for missing the annual meeting 😂 We now need somewhere to move her small private pension - £60k. She will be mostly invested in ETFs and trusts only. Can anyone advise on the process of transferring to SIPP elsewhere and which companies are best in terms of…

Cynergy Maturity Issue FYI
A one year bond matured this morning with instructions to pay the proceeds into my EA account. The amount deposited was the original capital MINUS the interest amount! Having a hard job getting them to understand, they keep telling me the interest is not paid until 7pm. I don't recall maturity proceeds being split…

FSCS Protection - investment via savings marketplace
In top fixed terms savings at MSE there is an option to invest with Aldermore for 6m via Savings Marketplace account Prosper. "Prosper is a 'savings marketplace', which means that it does special deals with banks to offer savings accounts – often at higher rates than are available direct with that bank. The Aldermore 4.63%…

Investing in funds - INC or ACC
I have a lump sum to invest in funds for at least 10 years. And I have maxed out my ISA allowance but plan to move this to S&S ISA until they are all within the tax wrapper. As I am not touching this money till at least it is all within the tax wrapper. Would it make CGT reporting easier to invest in INC rather than…

More problems with Raisin UK & limits of the Financial Ombudsman Service.
The Financial Ombudsman Service covers banks, building societies and payment services but NOT deposit aggregators such as Raisin UK and others. I know this after complaining to the FOS about Raisin UK, waiting for 2 months and then getting the investigator's reply: we have no powers over a deposit aggregator. I emailed MSE…

I have some money, what will Lloyds offer me?
Just sold a house, Lloyds bank offered to have their team meet me next week (online) with options for £200k. Does anyone here use an IFA?
Appreciate this is mostly a forum of DIY investors but as I get older, and whilst I don't think it's necessary right now, I've not ruled out the idea of getting professional advice at some point. If you live reasonably frugally and have built up a decent pot - and if you have an ongoing relationship with an advisor v…

'Standard practice' IFA Fees
I have too much money sat in banks so contacted a financial adviser to ask what I should do with it that would be more sensible. He produced a plan. When I asked about fees I was told the "ongoing advice charges" would be 0.75% p.a. When I asked if this was a percentage of the profits [if any] made from my capital or a…
