Monzo 1p challenge upgrade worth it?
Monzo is allowing users to put away money away into a pot as a savings challenge. They take 1p on the first day, 2p on the 2nd day and keep going until a year passes. In total this will amount to £667.95. However if you upgrade to Monzo Extra which costs £3 a month, they let you save x4 as much so 4p a day instead of 1p a…

I currently have around 60k invested HSBC IDX TKR INV FTSE ALL WORLD INDEX C ACC (MDAABG) and looking to sell and rebuy ACWI but not too sure the best way of going about it . Fidelity Junior ISA - Does anyone know how other people can pay in? Friends/Family?
Hi all, Sorry if this is a daft question, I promise I did look around but my nephew's just had a JISA opened & his mum (my sis) put the first £100 in, and some of his family/friends also want to contribute but directly, rather than sending her the cash, for her to then put in. Surely there's a way to do this by bank…

Investing - Where's the pot of gold?
I'm dubiously looking into investments instead of saving. Everyone says investments beat savings given a long view. The number one question is, how much do they pay? One or two sources describe 2% - 4% or 2% - 6% as a 'strong yield', at least for income investments. Then I looked at Hargreaves Lansdown's platform (as I…

ii new platform plans 2026
Received an email flagging new plan charges to be introduced February next year. In my case my current £21.99 tariff covering ISA, GIA, SIPP accounts will reduce to £14.99 (Plus plan) with improved trading and FX charges and ability to tack on family accounts ( up to £100k) for no additional charge. In these inflationary…

MSE News: Government-backed NS&I's new fixed-rate savings pay up to 4.07% interest
NS&I has launched new fixed-rate savings accounts that let you lock in good rates for one to five years with total safety, as NS&I is backed by the Treasury. They're worth looking at if you're keen to save with a big name and won't need access to your savings – though you can earn a bit more from the top payers…

What to do with inheritance?
My daughter is 21 and has roughly £140k from inheritance. It's currently in a trust, but the question is what should she do with it? She's about to finish her Masters. I have no idea how she can make most of it, invest it? If so how? Property? Would love some smart suggestions. (She also has no idea what best route is)

Habib Zurich 12 months bond
Has anyone opened a 12 months bond with this bank? They have a 12 months bond giving 4.44% AER, which I opened on 23.12.2025 as I had a bond with them before. I thought I would put in £1,000 to begin with to make sure it gets there before I fund the account further. They have set up an account in my name as when I made the…

Pension v isa (s&s)
One or the other of both? Only difference I can see is its locked away in the pension. Which might be a good thing for impulsive people? End aim is an income to replace wages. Currently age single 44 with 30k pension and 200k instant savings but no property.

AIM shares held in ISA - Business Property Relief?
I’m embarking on one of those periodic “sorting things out” jobs and am looking at wills, SIPPs, ISAs and the like. With regard to BPR for AIM shares held for at least 2 years, do shares within what I would call a ‘normal’ Stocks and Shares ISA or SIPP with (say) HL or AJB, qualify for the relief? A long time ago, I…

Skipton BS - 1Year FIXED Bond; reducing interest rates?
In June 2025 I opened a 1 Year Fixed Bond [1Y Fixed Bond Issue 2] at Skipton BS and deposited £5000. The interest rate was 4.75%. This morning I received an email saying that following the BoE base rate reduction, the interest on my account would be dropping on 26 January to 4.40%. I thought a FIXED bond had the interest…

Tell me what I’m missing please - maximising savings.
Hi All, I have plans for this cash in around 5 years, maybe a year either side which is why it’s in savings rather than investments. Please poke holes in anything I’m messing up, I’d really like to push on and max my routine this year for savings. Monthly routine - Main sum is in Zopa easy access @ 4.45%, £300 into 7.5%…

Home for Excess Cash
I’m looking
for a home for my excess cash, instead of leaving it in MM. My equities
allocation is at its ceiling of 37% plus I already hold 26% in short and intermediate
corporate bond funds. A couple of low risk MA funds account for a further 16%, which
leaves 20% to decide on. I’m
unlikely to need the cash but it should…

Skipton Building Society - Albania
Recently I was on holiday in the Balkans. I have three Halifax current accounts, so pay £500 from each into Skipton to get the £5. Whilst in Albania, I was unable to log into the Skipton app, (comes up with unable to connect to internet). Nor could I access the Skipton website. My partner had the same problem with both app…

Atom transfer in issues
Has anyone experienced any issues recently when attempting to transfer into a Fixed term Atom Bank saver? I opened one recently but when I tried to fund it from my Halifax current account they flagged it up as a high risk potential scam on two occasions. This is quite strange as I have done this on previous occasions with…

Nationwide “Fair Share” payment 2026
Just in case people were not watching the ML show last night, he mentioned the cut off dates for the Nationwide fair share payment, if they do indeed have one again this year. £100 possible in June if they do one. Need to be in place by this month, if they have the same rules as previous years of the payment. Thought I’d…

After some investment advice
No judgement but my dear old mum has taken all of her workplace pension and stuck it in her current account. She didn't want the government to tax her again on her hard earned money. She is 65+, renting and there is £20k+ to play with. Note, us kids don't care about her leaving anything for us. Any advice is greatly…
