Learning more about investing; can anyone recommend a good book?

Hello,
I've a SIPP and I'm using it to save for retirement, but I frequently feel out of my depth. I was wondering if anyone can recommend a relatively up date book on investing that isn't just an advert, or overly biased towards whatever the fashion is of the day. I do have an FA for my mortgage, but I want to actually understand what I'm being advised.
Thanks

Smarter Investing by Tim Hale is a very good place to start. It's not completely up to date, but just as relevant today.1

Of all the books I’ve read on investing the one I took the most from was The Simple Path to Weatlh by JL Collins. It has an American tilt but the principles are sound.1

Seconded as a recommendation, JL Collins is in a few Youtube videos as well, he's an amiable, grounded chap and the principles in his book as simple and work.Alistair31 said:Of all the books I’ve read on investing the one I took the most from was The Simple Path to Weatlh by JL Collins.
