Switching pet insurance with pre-existing condition
I've got a cavalier king charles which has had surgery on both its legs to ensure its patella doesn't pop out while running and has no existing health conditions which we're aware of. My insurance has gone up to £50pm which I think is quite high so I was wondering if I'd be okay to switch as while the surgery is a…

Horse and kangaroo meat cat food is for sale on Amazon!
I was surprised to see tins of horse meat and of kangaroo meat cat food for sale on Amazon. I could post the links here, but maybe better not to. I don't think it's illegal but it's distasteful (so to speak!) and perhaps carries health risks. From what I read, the kangaroos are caught in the wild and can be diseased.

Who would be the regulatory body for Vetsend.co.uk?
Hi, we wondered if anyone would know who the regulatory body for www.vetsend.co.uk (online pet pharmacy, 'co.uk' web address, but based in the Netherlands) would be, or how we would find this out? We've requested this information from 'Vetsend' itself several times, but they have refused to provide it.

My dog acts up when I am on the phone
I have a dog which came from a dogs home a few years ago. He had a few behavioural problems when I got him, but by and large has settled down to being fairly well behaved, but he has one behavioural problem that still persists. When someone rings me, he whines for a while and then goes to a waste paper basket and starts to…

Will my cat need to be sedated for microchipping?
Hi all, We've adopted a lovely new cat just over a month ago and booked an appointment to get her microchipped at the vet. However when he arrived he took one look at her and said 'Oh she's a tortoiseshell, she'll need to be sedated you'll have to come back Monday' Is this normal to have a cat sedated for this? I'm not…

Pet Prescription
Never asked for one before, but as my cat is on regular ongoing medication, I am horrified that I can get the same drugs online for half the price! What do I ask the vet for - just a prescription? Do you think it will affect the relationship we have?

Hi, I have a 12 month old pup and my pet insurance renewal has arrived and the price has increased by £15 a month and I haven't made a claim. If I don't renew and the insurance expires. Can I then rejoin with the same company a day later and be classed as a new customer and get a much better deal?

New cat wakes us up at night, any ideas?
Hi all, Wondering if this is a common problem. We've had our cat for 2 weeks, she is such a dear little thing and it's been going well. Our only issue is she will wake us up 2 or 3 times a night coming into the bedroom and scratching/miaowing to get us up. I go downstairs with her to see if she wants something but all she…

Pond filter arrangement
Have forty-five goldfish between 4" to 10" - have been told I have too many for the size of the pond. An air pump has been added, which will help with oxygenation. It was recommended I change the (revolution) filter for a bigger one. Given that I'm also told that the pump is if anything too powerful (but the wattage can be…

Hi, My dog needed an operation, as she had a cruciate rupture, so we got the operation done We are insured , so we just paid the excess. Her leg didn't improve , infact it got worse , even though she was on strict cage rest. So they did the xray to check everything was healing , we chased the results and they just said we…

My dog was bitten- can I claim vet costs?
My daughter was walking our small dog on a lead in Scotland when he was attacked by 3 large off lead dogs. His harness had a thick padded collar which saved his life. Overnight stay in vet hospital, surgery to stitch deep bites and chest drains inserted. I found the owner who apologised and said he would pay. I gave him…

Keeping a dog in shared ownership propertyb
Hello, I currently am looking for a shared ownership property as cheaper than rent and I can’t afford to buy 100% of a property. I have had my lovely little chihuahua for four years and I’ve read some worrying posts to say you cannot have them in flats. I wouldn’t want to give him up as he is very attached to me as to I to…
