Should I claim on pet insurance?

Ok so long story short, our dog has been in the wars over the past few years resulting in operations on 2 legs by a specialist (pins, bolts the works!) Probably totalling over 6k in fees that we did claim for and as a result her premium has shot up quite quickly.
Its currently just under £50 a month and will by nature jump up a fair bit every year now i guess even with no claims.
She was in the vets again at the weekend for xrays and hopefully not much more to come now, fingers crossed.
Current bill is £400. Im considering the option of just paying this out of my own pocket on the thought process that if i claim for this again, her premiums will increase by more than £400 over the next couple of years on top of the natural increase anyway.
Am I sound in thinking this, or am i missing something and should just claim for it?
Thanks

Even if you don't claim you will have to declare it and the premiums will rise anyway, you may as well get a bit of money back.2

It depends who you are insured with. Petplan for example don't hoik up premiums due to claims but other insurers do.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0
