HPI Failing / Care when buying a Car
Ok I've not really posted here before but i've just experienced this first hand and thought it worth pointing out. If a car less then 3 years old is sold to a trader, unless you speak to the first owner of the car the mileage can not be guaranteed. I'l explian it by using my own experience. I have been looking for a car…

I have just sold my 4x4 (an old H reg), the buyer came and had a look, didnt test drive it, or have it inspected, just ran the engine, looked round it, then gave me a deposit for his road tax. It was collected on the monday evening, and yesterday afternoon (6 days later) he called me saying that the engine was shot. He…

Idling Problems - Honda Accord 1.8 vtec x reg.
Have a x-reg Honda Accord 1.8 vtec. It has been unused for 4 months. Once in a while the car is started now and then and driven around the block. The battery went flat few weeks ago. Just got around to putting in a new one. The car starts with no problems and drives without problems apart from when you rev the engine (in…

Replacing Lambda sensor - routine replacement or wait for problems?
My car has done about 120k miles, and I doubt the Lambda sensor has ever been touched. I don't seem to have any running problems, but just noticed Bosch recommend replacing Lambda sensors at every 50k miles to 100k miles depending on type of sensor http://www.boschautoparts.co.uk/pcLamb4.asp?c=2&d=1 I am guessing mine is…

H4 headlamps
I'm looking for some good quality "brighter" H4 headlights for a Peugeot 106. I've realised that the factory ones are probably dying, making driving on poorly lit roads a bit of a hazard. Which ones would offer a good balance between budget and "brightness"? thanks! edit-i've just noticed Lidl will have some next week, are…

Wheel nut adaptor for BMW 3 series
Lost it. It's a 97 TD Touring estate. (sorry, I ballsed-up the thread title, it's a 5 series) Can I only get a replacement from BMW? Any idea of the cost? Any ways round the problem without buying a new one? It's a kind of inverted star shape of adaptor...original from BMW I think, it doesn't look like it's individual for…

Avoiding car breakdown
I have a 9 year old car, it's only done 45'000 miles and is brilliant. Really reliable. However, a couple of times, maybe once every 4 months or so, very rarely it sometimes won't start. E.g. will go out in the morning as normal, and the engine will turn over and it just won't start. Strange thing was, last time it…

hi guys, just a quick question, my friend was driving a vehicle last year in October and the police stopped her and asked is she could produce documents about the car that she was driving. Anyway, the car was not hers and she did not have any documents to show them at the time, now they have sent her a letter to say that…

Claim from council for wheel damage
I was driving home from work the other night and heard a loud bang from the back of my car. I eventually found a 6 inch iron bolt had punctured by tyre and smashed a hole through my wheel. Can I claim from the council for this damage? It's not the kind of thing you expect to find along a main road and was lucky I had not…
