Replacing Lambda sensor - routine replacement or wait for problems?

My car has done about 120k miles, and I doubt the Lambda sensor has ever been touched. I don't seem to have any running problems, but just noticed Bosch recommend replacing Lambda sensors at every 50k miles to 100k miles depending on type of sensor http://www.boschautoparts.co.uk/pcLamb4.asp?c=2&d=1 I am guessing mine is the 50k type. Ok Bosch *would* say replace the sensor that often as they make money from sensor sales.

However, I am just wondering if anyone replaces the lambda sensor routinely due to high mileage, or is it usual practice to wait for running problems/MOT emissions fail?

I would wait for the MOT fail or the MIL light to come on on the dash.

I've never heard of this being a routine maintenance item and if it's not recommended in the manufacturer's service schedule or extended maintenance schedule then don't bother.

With my little knowledge, we only replace them when they fail - ie engine management light comes on or fail emissions test during MOT and sensor found to be faulty.

But am open to be enlightened ;)

i would leave it,although they are cheap to buy they can be a nightmare to replace, sometime sieze, break on removing them, more hassle than its worth.
if it passes the MOT and fuel consumption is as normal then i wouldnt worry.
