Plasterer charged more than quote
So bit frustrated with our plasterer who quoted us £600 to do a job last year - but when they turned up to do the job three months later said their partner had misquoted for doing a large living room and the total would be £940. They said they could do half if it was an issue. They also wanted us to pay for someone to…

Is it normal to pay some trades directly if they've been sub-contracted to do the job by the lead?
We're getting a loft extension done and the company we're using have said that they'll contract the separate trades directly but we'll be expected to pay them so we don't have to pay VAT on that aspect of the build? Big established company, is that normal? Not sure whether it's dodgy or not . . Thanks

Should I leave it because of this? I know being registered to these orgs isn't necessary, and if it's anything like the other regulatory stamps in this…
