What's the purpose of this strange return pipe?
Hi, In the kitchen the return pipe has a kind of angled deviation. What's it's purpose? Since on it sits the TRV I want to move it to the other end, in order to have the TRV on the flow. Is there anything preventing it due that angled deviation? It makes me think of a flushing system and I definitely don't want to trigger…

Replacing radiator
I am decorating Living Room and have taken radiator off and am going to renew it. Is it just a simple job of getting a plumber in to fit new one or is it a more complicated job. I know nothing about plumbing etc but have read stuff regarding "flushing the system" etc. Does this apply to my job?

Trying to find flush fitting toilet bolt caps - any ideas?
When we did our bathroom years back the toilet was supplied with huge dome/ egg shaped bolt covers which stuck out like something from a sci-fi movie. I just wanted something that was flush with the porcelain for easy cleaning. So in the end we fitted the washer part of the caps and added some silicone sealant finished…

Anyone found a well on their land and how did you do it?
The house we are buying has a well on our land, suspect it's under the foundations of the old greenhouse (flagstones). Without digging up the whole of the foundations has anyone ever found a well on their land by more traditional methods e.g. water divining or have tips on tell tale signs to look for to indicate where it…

The dirt that came out from my radiator!
Hi, as I wrote other times in the past my radiator at the second floor got hot only at the top, while the bottom remained cold. Today I've finally cleaned it in the shower, with hot water and using a game of pipes, making water flow in both directions, up and down, for something like an hour. The stuff that came out is…

Hello :) My pvc front door is on the blink so it's finally time to splash out on one of the lovely coloured composite doors I've long admired on my neighbours' homes! What's this pipe in cellar?
Hi all, after viewing a Victorian two bed terrace I messaged seller about the pictured damage to the Cellar ceiling in the corner(plasterboard and battens) and the tape on an adjacent pipe. My initial thought was water had leaked from the pipe and caused the issue. Seller replied: a) Plumber had previously advised them…

Metal v Plastic fuse-box rental
I'm sure my 1st property (now a rental) had a metallic fuse box which was changed to plastic for 'safety reasons'. My letting agent says it now needs to be a metal one (!) but when I contacted a landlord helpline, they said - no, as long as there is no damage to it. There is no damage. I'd like to get a health check done…

Beko dishwasher problems
Our Beko dishwasher, after running without a hitch for many years, suddenly developed issues - quite a bitty story, sorry. We called out an engineer from a local (well established) business to see why it was trying to start but couldn't seem to run through the program. He re-set the program (I didn't see what he did and he…

Hi folks, We have bought a few long bath mats for bath but find that they soon turn black in a bad way with mould after four or five months of use.
