Car hire no show
I booked a RyanAir flight to Italy and hired a car as an add on - it was very cheap, £170 for 8 days. I was given a collection time of 4:30pm local time and instructions to take a shuttle bus and ring a number. The flight out was delayed by nearly an hour, so we didn't land until 4:30pm. When we got out tof the airport, I…

Car Hire Deposit Taken in Full and Then Returned Minus Fees
Is it normal for car hire companies to charge a full damage deposit to your credit card rather than charge a nominal £0.01 pending the return of the vehicle? I've just been hit with c.£40 of currency exchange/transaction charges because the hire company charged 900 Euros to my card and then returned 900 Euros a few days…

Issue with Kiwi/Wizz Air flight refund
i booked a flight from London on Wizz Air via Kiwi.com. The flight comprised one from London to Rome and then a second flight from Rome to the final destination. Wizz cancelled the second flight and could not provide an alternative so I didn’t travel. I requested a refund through Kiwi.com who say that Wizz refused the…

Goldcar Rental & DoYouSpain
We paid a deposit for Car Rental through DoYouSpain for a car to be picked up from Goldcar in Alicante Airport. We got to the Goldcar kiosk at 11pm on 12th July to see a huge huddle of people. They had a ticket system where you had to click whether you had a booking or not. Those that had bookings already were left waiting…

Barclaycard travel wallet
Says no 2.99% fee to use debit card abroad. Has anyone experience of using this and could recommend or not please? Is there a catch?

Car rental in Sardinia - low cost operators a bad idea?
We need to rent a car from Olbia airport for 10 days in September, and have been scanning the price comparison sites recommended on the MSE site. Obviously the best prices (by far) are from companies that I've never heard of (B-Rent, Surprice, Felirent, etc), and those companies typically get universal 1 star "scammer"…

Turkey - Obtaining Cash
I’m travelling to Turkey later in the year, first time in 25 years so no doubt things have changed considerably. As a user of UK bank products that eliminate foreign transaction fees, I’m getting the impression obtaining Turkish cash can result in other fees being charged. Other than hotels, are credit cards now widely…

Denmark charging extra card fees
Just got back from Denmark, where almost every card payment (using Chase and Halifax clarity) incurred a mysterious added fee of a few per cent, even when choosing to pay in Euros. I asked the sellers and they said it's not us, it's from your bank.. it's not mentioned separately on the card statement. Since then I've spent…

How do I get a Cancellation Invoice from Aer Lingus
We were due to fly return to Aer Lingus last week but I cancelled the flights back in April due to my husband's illness and he'd been advised not to fly. Despite trying to communicate with them in many different ways, they still haven't sent me a Cancellation Invoice so I can't claim the travel insurance. When they have…

How to avoid being ripped off by a car rental company?
Hello, I am going abroad soon and need to rent a car at the airport. I've had a few interesting experiences myself and am wondering how to avoid issues this time. Once, I booked a car at the best price I could find online through a car rental comparison site. While collecting the keys at the counter, they tried to sell me…

Ryanair fines
Dear all, I wonder if anyone can give me guidance with a recent problem I've had with Ryanair. Also, this post might help others avoid a fine that I've had to pay. I will try to keep this brief. I have read a number of article, including here on MSE's site which have been helpful, but don't deal with my exact…

Easyjet hold luggage for inbound only?
For a return flight Easyjet doesn't seem to allow hold luggage only for the inbound (or outbound) flight. Is this still correct? The booking pages are so full of details and pictures that spotting policy changes is not always possible. Ryanair does it but it took me a while to spot it. Thanks very much.

Putting credit card in credit to get fee free cash withdrawls
About 10 years ago I added cash to my credit card account to put the balance in credit. The card gives me near enough the spot rate. I was pleasantly surprised no fees were levied, can you still do this?

Will travel insurance payout for 37+ week pregnancy?
I booked flights only with TUI for myself, son, DIL and grandchild. My DIL got pregnant after I'd booked and she'll be 37+ weeks by the time of the flight. TUI will not refund or offer any change of date and their policy rules are very clear and understandable. My travel insurance is attached to my bank account and I have…

Halifax Clarity Credit Card
I have used this card for many years while abroad. It's the best card moneywise, but it's totally useless as they just suspend your card for no reason. Australia - Halifax suspended my card (and my friends at the same time). I had a heated call for over 30 mins for them stating it was the vendors fault, utter rubbish!!!…

Claims Advice
Hi, In a last ditch attempt I thought I'd ask here in case someone knows a route for us. We purchased flights through Ryanair to fly to France before finding out my wife was pregnant. Alas, pregnancy complications have ensued and as a result she has been deemed unfit to fly. We have spoken with the Travel Insurance…

Which pre paid travel card
Hi all My wife and i are looking for advice and recommendations regarding a pre-paid travel card. I am currently using my credit card for purchases and my debit card for atm withdrawals, both have zero transaction fees and work well but If I misplaced or lost them whilst abroad, I would be in a bit of a pickle. I am toying…
