Alcohol in airport hand luggage?
Our local airport has recently had their scanners upgraded and now allow you to take 2 litres of liquid on board in your cabin bags.
I am looking to take a bottle of wine on a UK internal flight (not for consumption on board but as a present).
Will this be allowed through the security process? Does anyone have any experience of doing this?
I have sent an enquiry to the airport but have not heard back.

If as you say your departure airport has the newer scanners and is allowing up to 2 litres of liquids to be carried - then yes you will be fine with a wine bottle.

I agree, the question appears to have been asked and answered in the original post.

Thanks
Just wondered if 2 litres of liquids didn't include alcohol for some reason.

If that were the case, the website would say so.

Tbf the airport website doesn't mention liquid rules at all hence the original question.

What would the reason be? The concern about liquids is terrorists somehow concocting them into an explosive device (which always seemed quite an obscure risk anyway), not people drinking them. And obviously no importing concerns for a domestic flight.

Interesting question.
Duty Free alcohol purchased at the airport requires to be exported in a sealed bag AFAIK - that's always been our experience.
I wonder if the airlines might have an objection to carry on alcohol sourced otherwise being brought onboard ?

It appears you can take alcohol through Gatwick at least...

There's no blanket policy about bringing alcohol in the cabin, and a sealed poly bag is hardly much of a hindrance, so airlines can set their own rules - Ryanair have been widely reported as banning this for flights to disruption hotspots, for example.

Indeed, airports allowing up to 2 litres of liquid through security becomes irrelevant if the airline policy is otherwise.
The OP might be best advised to check this with airport security and the airline in advance.
