Advice on cashback credit cards
Hi, I used to only use the nationwide credit card, until they cut their cashback to 0.25% Then I got a AMEX cashback credit card and was using that but they also cut their cashback rate (after all the bonus periods) to 0.5% I think. So wanted to check what the general advice on cashback credit cards are? Especially AMEX.…

Guidance/Advice
Currently, I'm in the process of trying to borrow more money to renovate my house by adding it onto my current mortgage. Over the past few weeks, I've noticed that my credit score is good to almost excellent on all other agencies like Equifax and TransUnion, except for Experian where it is labelled as fair, only 18 points…

Amex supplementary cardholder
Just wondering why Amex doesn't want the supplementary cardholder to make payment to the card. Sometime he/she uses the (supplementary) card for a purely personal purchase and wants to clear it asap so he/she makes a payment as soon as the charge appears in "Recent charges". Well Amex apparently doesn't like this, and…

Barclaycard interest rates notification
I've been a customer of Barclaycard for years. I received an email from them to say the interest rate on my card is increasing, from 11.8% to 21.8% ! I understand everything increasing but nearly double! I've always made payments on time. Has this happened to anyone else? I'm looking at changing cards, any recommendations…

Best Practice for Balance Transfer
Hi everyone, I'm looking to do a balance transfer as the 0% interest on my current credit card is coming to an end. I was just wondering what is best practice for the 'old' card when you do this? Is it common to close the account or keep it open? Any benefits/drawbacks of doing either? Thanks for any help!

Amex referral bonus eligibility
I recently referred my wife to Amex and there is a £40 bonus cashback now showing in my account. I read separately that you need to spend £3k/year to be eligible to receive any cashback. Is this also true of the £40 bonus; e.g. I need to spend £3k not to forfeit the bonus referral cashback?

Upselling, cross selling charging card without authorisation
I bought some organic kitchen cleaning products and took out a subscription for 1/2 price intro. It asked me if I would like a bathroom set which I put into basket, but changed mind and didn't proceed to payment, but I was charged and sent the the unauthorised goods. As my card details were retained for subscription should…

AmEx PlanIt
AmEx have recently launched their buy now pay later feature in the UK. I decided to give it a go on a £150 purchase to see what it was all about, and whether it would be any advantage to use. I'm struggling to really see the point if I'm being honest! Sure, you don't pay interest on the purchase, but you do pay a fee…

AMEX charges to Businesses
Does anybody know how much American Express charge businesses in the UK? The reason I ask is that I have a reasonably big purchase to make (£6,000) which if I do on my AMEX card I'll get £30 cashback. So I'm wondering how much the business will get charged for this because if its more (has to be, doesn't it?) then there…

Credit Limit Increases - manual vs automated payment
Hi, Looking to increase my credit limit on a card I have. I pay it off in full each month. Does it matter if this is by direct debit or manual payment, or are both as well regarded as each other as long as I continue to pay in full each month please? Thank you

Are shorter term balance transfers paid off in priority to longer term ones?
I believe the answer is yes, but I can't find anything specifically to state it. Looking at Barclaycard in particular.

Claim back cost of work carried out by a garage
I recently had some work done on my car to replace a stater motor. Subsequently, it has transpired that it didn’t need a new start motor at all and the garage essentially changed it without doing proper diagnostics etc to figure out the problem. They’ve also refused to take the car back to do the work that actually needs…

Buying a used car on CC, extra protection?
I’m looking to buy a cheap used car to use for a few months, perhaps around the 2k mark. It’s hard to find any dealer who doesn’t have at least a couple of reviews “it exploded 500m down the road and they wouldn’t fix it” so I’m nervous. I’m aware of the 2015 consumer rights law (lemon law) but even so, you could end up…

Did I get the right credit card?
Hi, New to credit cards, I got my first one 2 months ago with Capital One with a £1,500 credit limit. I originally got it as a "credit builder" card as I was just following suggestions that I'd seen online but it feels like the wrong decision. There are no benefits on it whatsoever, no cashback or points etc. and the…

M&S Credit Card Application
My husband applied for an M&S credit card through MSE. At the end of the application it stated they had received it and it would take 5 working days for the decision. Over a week later he’s received no reference number, no correspondence, or email. How do we go about following up with no details at hand?

Increasing Credit Card limit question
Hi I have been increasing my credit card limit every 6 months. I never miss payment and I have requested a 1k increase every 6 months which is granted. I am wondering what would happen if I request 2k? Is there a chance they decline and then I get no increase at all? Or would they decline and then I request 1k which they…
