Will both making and returning purchases improve credit score?

For context I use a debit card. If I make a purchase, will this improve credit score, and if I return the purchase, will this also improve credit score? Thank you.

    No it won't.

You don't have a credit score. You have a number in an app that only you see - lenders don't see it.

What matters is your credit HISTORY. Not the made up score.

Do you ONLY have a debit card? no credit card at the moment?

Are you on the electoral roll?

Do you have utilities in your name?

Are you running a mobile phone contract?

All of those will help your HISTORY.
  • Since a debit card is, by definition, not a credit facility, using it will have no impact whatsoever on your credit status - whether your utterly meaningless credit score or your more relevant credit history.
