Full Fibre question
Does anyone know whether the network ports on a full fibre on the little box they install on the wall (I think it's referred to as the ONT), are "normal network ports". In other words if I plug a network cable directly in there should it work on my PC? I have recently had full fibre installed an I'm having some issues…

Landline only for elderly relative
My elderly aunt (in her 90s) has been told by her existing provider (Shell) that they can no longer provide her with a service and she will need to migrate to another provider. She has landline and broadband but no longer requires the broadband because she doesn't use it (my uncle has recently died and he had an iPad).…

Broadband choices voucher email
I signed up to Shell broadband 4 months ago, via Broadband choices website They said I'd get an email with the £105 voucher, then have 3 months to claim. What address will it come from? Is there a custermer service email/phone contact, that people know of? Has anybody successfully claimed it?

I have 30 days left on my broadband contract with Virgin media and I logged into my account and I was offered the same price to continue for another 18 months at £24 for 125mb. I have had problems with my wifi so before I agree to the contract I rang them up and asked for a new router. They told me I cant have one until I…

I had one month at the "deal price", but now it's on offer again...
Hi all, I don't think there's anything I can do about this - but do enlighten me if I'm wrong - this is more a vent. I signed up to BT's 500mbps full fibre package at the end of Dec '22 as it was on offer for £30.99/mo. Only a couple of quid more than most 150-200mbps packages at the time and I'd lived with bad internet…

Moving home BT want to send another Smart Hub 2
I'm starting the process of moving our phone/internet service to our new address. I understand that they want us to now use the Digital Voice socket at the back of our Smart Hub 2 to connect our phone instead of going into the phone socket adapter but while sorting out my order online they want to charge me £9.99 to send…

No other ISPs available in new build?
Hi all, First time posting here, but long time reader of the forums. I'll keep this as short as I can. I moved into a new build last December (2022) that was completed in September of 2022. At first I was told by the estate agent who I asked to email specifically about this if other providers would be available for…

Working from home - needing to use mobile data instead of broadband?
Hi everyone, Stuck between the Broadband/internet access heading and Mobile Phone Heading I work from home. I'm just out of contract with TalkTalk. I need to visit my Mum (87yrs) who lives 100 miles away, more frequently but would still need to work and she doesn't have broadband. I've heard I could share my mobile data…

Why get broadband? Unlimited 5g phone sim, hotspot/cheap 5g routers - what am I missing?
Hi MSE, My EE 5g phone gets 150mpbs for it's download speed - why would I get broadband? Surely there's a way of just getting extra sims and either phones or routers and hotspotting my phone's 5g for my house? I see EE have their own 5g broadband monthly package - why would I buy this? What am I missing here? Thank you all…

Unwanted Giffgaff
Hello, I've received an email welcoming me to Giffgaff, paid via a £20 voucher. I didn't join. I have the phone number, order number and username but am loathed to use any of them as I don't want to 'activate' anything more sinister. I've changed my email password, what other security steps should I consider? I set it up…

From Virgin to Air to Zybre to Octaplus & phantom Billing!
Hi, when Air (later Zybre) went pop and withdrew from City Fibre BB I transitioned to Octaplus which I am very happy with but unfortunately I am still getting billed by Air (who I thought had gone bust?) The debt is piling up each month (over £100 now) for an account which doesn't exist but (surprise surprise) no one…
